Saw this on facebook. Wonder what it'd be like if Earl still posted on here regularly?

Could Earl's alias be Travis Trotter?????

I thought it could be Travis, but my gut tells me it was a highly opinionated anonymous poster who was banned for too much arguing or he self destructed. Problem is, there have been so many people that fit that description!

Earl wouldn't last a week before the know it all clique tore him apart. Everything he'd say would be scrutinized and questioned to protect the readers from "bad" info. What does he know, anyway?

Best,
Mike

Fully agree. Further more notice who else was posting? David Howard.

In fact almost all pros do their posting on Facebook instead of azb. To be fair fb is also more dynamic and broadly social than forums. I imagine that a lot of the pros are connected to non pool friends there as well. I.e. they can be more like regular folks and less like idols on fb than on pool forums.

Exactly JB. And in FB you can be your own moderator and delete shit4brain comments. This social media way of "getting the word out" won't stop soon. Earl recently now is on Twitter. It's smart biz. In 3 months, another Zuckerberg may provide reach, keeping up is keeping up.

Yeah...you're right...

and isn't that a shame.

For all youze guys who are bemoaning the harassment of ES here:

As mentioned earlier in this thread, Earl posted under his own name. And if you take a peek, he made a grand total of 16 posts. Having read all 16, there was no harassment that I can discern. So whadda you talking about?

I have it on good authority that Earl posted here with assistance during that time, but he lost his cookies, preventing him from logging back in. :D

Not to mention if someone starts shit on your FB post, you can just delete there comment and block them. WAAAAAY easier to keep things positive on Facebook.

Speaking of which, does any one know if Earl does his own posting on FB? His posts are actually fairly well written and upbeat. Doesn't sound anything like his interviews as far as tone of the posts. It's actually a pretty good read!

Well, given the money in pool he probably doesn't hire a publicist... I dunno, it's easy to see just
one side of Earl in interviews, especially since people always link to the ones where he loses it.
Nobody links to the interview where Earl's like "yeah, I was shooting great, [runner-up] is a great kid,
he got a bad roll to put me up 6-4 and just took it from there". I'm pretty sure he has a few like that.

Earl Strickland has recently taken on a PR person or a manager/agent, which is his ex-wife. She understands the pool world, having been married to Earl and experienced it firsthand.

Since she has taken the pool reins for Earl, she has booked him in numerous exhibitions around the world, as well as created a Twitter account for Earl to communicate with his fans. She is to Earl what Jeanette Lee's agent is to Jeanette. I think she's doing a great job as far as helping Earl's career in recent times. It allows Earl to concentrate on pool, and she takes over the administrative and logistical duties.

Being a house pro in NYC at Steinway also allows Earl Strickland to concentrate on his pool game instead of traveling the country side, competing in regional events, incurring all the expenses, hoping to break even. It is a win-win for Earl and Steinway, I think. If you know Earl Strickland is in the house, it might be worth a trip to the Steinway to see a living legend up front and close. :)

Earl is in a good place right now. Whether he is having assistance in posting on FB, Twitter, and the like, it's still Earl's words. With the advent of these smartphones, Earl just might have figured it out, but he may not post one word without consulting with his manager/agent, which is a good move, considering he's becoming more active in the global pool world.
