Two GC'2's for sale..........

Thanks for the heads up. If it was closer or I was younger , , , I'd be on my way.

My advice to anyone in the area and who has been looking unsuccessfully, don't hesitate -- throw the net.

Again, thanks. Your help will greatly benefit someone.

Have GCs increased in value recently?
In the last 15 years I have bought a TIGHT GCII with setup and new Simonis for $1700.
Sold it a couple years later to a friend for $1500.
Also a GCII with a GCIV with flat top pockets for $500. (That was a steal obviously)
Sold it for $1500 to a friend when I moved out of state. (still a great deal)
I believe if you can spend a month or two looking for a deal and can pick up within 4 hours of your home, you can find a great deal on a GC.
I'd like a Diamond bar box for my shop but there are no great deals on those afaik. (under $5k)

You are most likely referring to Gold Crown I's. The Gold Crown II was only made from 1975-1977 and is pretty rare. Many people think they have a GCII because of features like adjustable feet, floating nut plates in the rails, metal nameplate, etc., but all of those were implemented in the GCI production by 1964. The GCII was merely an aesthetic change featuring rosewood stained aprons and pedestal with bronze feet and ball tray bezel.

How did you get the Gold Crown IV pocket castings to fit on a Gold Crown I? The rails on the GCIV are wider. Did you just swap the whole top out (castings, rails, aprons)?

Been to the grocery store lately?? Tell me one thing that hasn't gone up. average price for a decent used GC these days is up to around 2g's. Yes, barn finds are out they're but getting rarer by the day. A friend had a chance to buy ten from a place switching to Diamonds but he had to take all ten for 10g's. He didn't need but two and had no storage or he'd have snagged them all. someplace back east in Jersey i think. been a yr or so.

The first GC was purchased from the original owner -a pool room that closed. He said it was a 2. I don't remember enough about it to make a case.
The 2nd may have been a 3. Also from a room owner, but he switched to Diamonds.
He said the upgrade included the entire top of the table, aprons, rails, corners, and pockets.
Claimed the upgrade was like $5k per table from Brunswick when he did it.
He had a room full of them. It was the last one he had and it sat in pieces for a couple years before I bought it.

Cost really depends on location as well and how popular they were in that area. Here you are looking at 3500 to 4000 Canadian if you find one at all. For me the closest I've been able to find one is 12 hours away and it was 4000.

It goes both ways when the economy is in the toilet.
Used and new items may see cost increases but the used market sees more inventory when people need money. Used toy prices like buggys, off-road rigs, project cars, parts, etc. are going cheap these days.
Wasn't sure on which side pool table would fall.

Yeah, i forgot about that. I've been a member forever. Can't be too many Chad Reams in Centralia,Mo. BTW, IF ever in Columbia you HAVE to go to Booches, burgers-n-beer up front, B'wick Arcades in the back. Absolute gem of a time-capsule.
Booche’s….one of my absolute must-stops whenever I am even near Columbia.
