U.S. Chances in the Mosconi Cup

Its pretty Sad when this thread to get behind Team USA and talk about the guys who are going to Play gets 79 replies but the thread discussing the 3 players not going gets nearly 700 replies so far

One can learn so much about another's game by their wwyd responses to a game situation video/still clip. Old nine baller's responders to his nine ball WWYD's are very telling.

Yes, and you can tell a lot about a person, sometimes by what they don't say as well.

Thanks Will, getting such praise from you feels like I won a match.
P.S. I think you're going to like More Pool Wars. I went a little deeper on this one.

Hey Jay,

I recently finished "road player: the Danny diliberto story" and the part with you and him betting he couldn't make a field goal with a golf ball from the opposite endzone was priceless. Those must have been great times. I'll be picking up "pool wars" next. Can't wait.

Yep, it really happened, Danny threw two 110 yard field goals before everyone quit betting. I dropped out after the first one. :D

Lets go team USA. I like our chances. Wish it was easily viewed in the US. High quality team pool will be on display this year and i think the trophy comes home with the team. USA USA

I think some serious thought needs to be given to the line up. I don't pretend to know what the line up should be but Shane and Corey probably need to play flawless for the USA to get there or at least be playing in the final match. One of the newbees needs to probably play over his head a little and that person could be Justin Bergman. His game is coming on in the last year and he is a very good shot maker playing rotation games and somehow I just think he might be the darkhorse. Justin Hall may not be the best ball striker in the group but a tough bank might come up for all the cheese and if it does, I want him shooting it.

Chances are good

So best of 21 matches-13 singles+1 team+7 doubles
Each player must play at least 2 singles
So based on most recent form in mini tourney before Blackpool, distribution of 13 singles matches may be
SVB-JS-JB-JH-CD=4-3-2-2-2 or 3-3-3-2-2
In past years , USA did well in doubles compared to singles and with renewed emphasis by MW on teamwork , team dynamics USA should win 5 out of 8 points ( for 1 team +7 doubles )
That means only need to win 6 out of 13 singles matches .
So key players will SVB,JS,JB-bearing in mind that is very rare for player to win all their singles matches at this level, all 3 can still afford to lose of 1 of their matches and USA can still eke out a win
The key will be 1st day-if USA can stay close 2-3 or lead 3-2 on 1st day, then it is all momentum momentum
Chances look good -on paper that is

Mrs. Wilson Made the 2014 Mosconi Cup

Anyone who shows up to the Mosconi Cup with a snooker cue clearly means business. But what are you going to do- Europe is Europe and we will always have to dig deep to make a mark. Snooker. I really have to try it sometime.

As for USA's member selection, I embrace the idea of planting our flag in the ground and looking to the future. Obviously Hall and Bergman are sharp shooters but it is clear that the pressure weighed heavily on them, particularly Bergman. The Mosconi experience will elevate their respective games and presence to an insane level which will in turn help the game of every person they play forever- speading pool excellence in the process. Really though, i feel bad for anyone who thinks they can get past either of them in a 2015 tournament. The Mosconi Cup has created two new Monsters.

Thank you Mosconi Team USA 2014..... and Mrs. Wilson:happydance:

(I want a Mrs. Wilson Mosconi Cup action figure to mark my pockets with in league. She made me very proud and that was watching it from YouTube. I wonder if "Hollywood" Justin at CSI can print me one up with his 3D printer.)
