U.S. OPEN 2026, Frisco, Texas, August 25-30

I wonder if Joe Rogan will make a guest appearance again.

Hopefully if he does they tell him ahead of time to still to the action on the table rather than complaining about the breaking rules and the 4 ball color-need to focus on positivity as this is the first time in a long while that ESPN is broadcasting live action pool.
I was thinking similarly but that doesn't work, if anything, asking Joe to tone something down or avoid saying it, will make him more likely to say it.

Looking forward to the next generation final. The Gavin Mathew experience is something. Brief stretches of shotmaking brilliance and positioning from the 12 year-old, interrupted by hair-trigger shots and the smashing of balls.

Somehow he beat Haydn Ernst in the semis even though Haydn was the better player. Haydn dogged a 9 ball just like Alex Kazakis did twice in the Florida Open. Mathew also had a golden break. First time in around ten tries Mathew has beaten Ernst, he said.

Mathew is not scared of attention, either. Comfortable on camera and he says a big crowd will be behind him.

Mathew is playing another young American hotshot, Austin Axe, nicknamed … The Axeman. Ax had a 6-0 lead in the semis and got wobbly. Finally won 7-5.

I am with this, G. It’s probably the same group of officers that are for the PD security detail for Comerica (right next door). For the rest of us… We’ve been in shadier areas. Like the Executive in Louisville!

Everything suggests this is a local city thing as part of the permit. Because these guys are wearing flack jackets, but they’re not doing any questioning or anything like that. It has to be a city ordinance or a city permit thing.
From a staffer: it’s a city requirement for sporting events with a certain number of attendees. Someone suggested it’s an ESPN thing, but I was just at ESPN for an ESPN live broadcast at the Orlando ESPN site. Not a cop in sight.

Someone suggested to ask one of the officers. LOL! They said they had no idea if it’s a city requirement. They just tell them that they are needed, and they come.
