U.S. OPEN 2026, Frisco, Texas, August 25-30

Great match! I don't have cable but do have WNTTV.

I'm actually surprised MR/ESPN allotted 3 hrs. The whole telecast is still going on and its at 3:56 now. There is no way a race to 13, plus the intro, plus the commercial breaks, was going to be done in 3 hrs. MR now has about 5 years of this data, they should have known better.

I expect if its on ESPN again, whichever stage of matches are broadcast will be shortened significantly, like they did with both the men and the women in the 90's and 2000's.
Race to Eleven is fine.

Cut down on the fluff and race to 11 probably gets us home in three hours and some change rather than pushing four.

Regardless, if people can’t see the positives in today (and I’m not saying that you can’t) I can’t help you.

Good stuff. I thought Rogan was great. He brings passion, energy, knowledge to the deal. As for 'polarizing'?? That's just 'libspeak' for those who get their panties in a wad over the guy. Pool needs polarizing/controversial/cutting edge to get people on board. Last thing we need is some pansy Mr.Rogers wannabe in the booth, give me exciting-n-edgy EVERY time.

Congratulations to Francisco Sanchez Ruiz, 2026 US Open Champion. 1 rack for 50k, as JJ put it. 🤌

Can't wait to rewatch it later, though it'll have to be on wnttv because more likely than not my dvr recording messed up when it switched to ESPN U.

There's your winner. And @Cornerman!

Matchroom wouldn't have the negotiating power to say that they cannot be preempted. The best they could negotiate is that the conclusion would be moved to another channel in the ESPN family, as we saw tonight.

That's not likely to change.

I think the only way to guarantee a finish within an allotted time window would be to play the match earlier in the day and allow for editing, if necessary. "Put it in the can" and play as much of it as possible for the broadcast. I don't think any of us would want that.

From a staffer: it’s a city requirement for sporting events with a certain number of attendees. Someone suggested it’s an ESPN thing, but I was just at ESPN for an ESPN live broadcast at the Orlando ESPN site. Not a cop in sight.

Someone suggested to ask one of the officers. LOL! They said they had no idea if it’s a city requirement. They just tell them that they are needed, and they come.
One of our members here is an ER MD living in Florida, and he goes to big football games all the time. It's a requirement to have X amount of Dr's on site when there are X amount of people in his state. I suspect it's the same thing with police. Probably varies by city/state, but that's the general idea.

I was unimpressed with Rogan. He voiced his unfiltered opinions, yes, but he added very little of substance or entertainment value. And "very little" might be overstating it.

If he wasn't as well known as he is, people would be laughing the amateur pool commentator hack out of the booth.

Did you expect him to regale us with anecdotes about the legalization of weed while he lights up a joint (embassy suites is non-smoking :P), which pool players would most likely take ayahuasca, or get into standup bits and cuss like a sailor? Start talking geo politics in the middle of the set? :D

It was just cool to see him out there. Maybe he'll make another cameo at the Texas Open if his schedule permits.

The arena announcer pronounced Robbie's name wrong!
Yes! “Capote”.

Insulting!!

Along with cutting away with the match on the line.

I was watching a DVR recording. And of course I didn’t know it was moved to ESPNU and the ESPN app. The app didn’t have the rest of the match available, dammit. I had to search YT for the highlight video.

Oh, well, at least it was on……

I was hoping for “Capote” 🤣 to win. Darn.

Great final match.
