U.S. Open 9-ball Updates

IMO, Shane's odds would only increase a little. I am a big fan of SVB (and still undefeated against him), but at the 2014 US Open, he had two double hill matches.

There are a lot of players in the tournament who could give anyone else a run for the win in a match.

let's not forget guys ko is still in tournament......he is capable of running the table from here

agreed. ANY tourney has a huge level of luck involved when you're talking about a ton of top level players. Any one of them can beat the other in a race to 11 at any time.

LOL, thank God that is your opinion, And you know what they say about opinions.
I get it, Ko is not allowed to anyone even though it is not a world championship match and much less to a woman. He must win every match :D

Touche. It is all sexist -they are basically saying that pro men players are not allowed to lose to pro women players. Even though top players have lost to women in past- Ronnie O lost to Pan Xiao Ting in 9 ball, Shane lost to Yu Ram Cha
In these days and times such primitive thinking is shocking. Go go Hillary ;)

Sexist? Are you a troll or just stupid?

Get a grip man. Do you understand even basic statistics?

I doubt so. Winning from losers side is much much tougher in this tough field
I have said before that Ko and Shane is unlikely to win whole thing. Still early to tell, this Accu rack seems to neutralise breaking advantage

LOL what me troll for calling out "sexist" ? Am not calling you "sexist" so just calm down before you make idiot out of yourself
Do this test http://www.free-iqtest.net/ before you start calling names, dummy:D

Why? She is not an APA 5, she is a world class player.
Would i bet on her in the match? No. But it is not shocking she won.

I understand what you are saying, I really do.....however, this is a huge upset......ko is possibly the best player in world......Karen might not be top 100......what I am shocked about is the score.....11 to 4 almost seems like dumping lol.......he 99.9999 percent didn't but the score just blows my mind

Has anyone said she couldn't play?

I have watched Karen numerous times on the Joss tour and at Turning Stone. She is rock solid and a real talent.

But when a player with 500/1 odds beats the top 5/1 odds world champion - that is a real upset on a global scale in a major tournament. Shock and awe is in order at this point.

Didn't see previous post about rack , sorry.

Let's be honest here.
If this was the world 9-ball tournament, and Shane lost to Karen by a score of 11-4, your view would be a bit different.

It's not about a woman either. If a 500/1 male player beat Ko in first round as current world champion I would be just as shocked.

It would be more shocking if it was alternate break rather than winner breaks
She won 7 consecutive after score tied at 4-4
She was probably breaking awesome B&R some racks and played great safeties when she could not run out:grin:

you are speaking my thought kid.....I think it is huge UPSET......I am talking 100 to 1 on the match kind of upset......and to do it in first round of open makes it seem like 1000 to 1

Negative. If anything, the Magic Rack is what neutralizes the breaking advantage, since it allows the wing ball to be wired, therefore it wouldn't matter if Shane has a superior break because the other guy can do the same thing.

The Accurack makes it harder to make the wing ball, plus the 9 is on the spot. So someone with an edge to breaking like Mike Dechaine or SVB will benefit from it more because they can figure it out better than someone who is not great at breaking.

The Accu-Rack doesn't neutralize breaking.

yes it is There is write up on it by commentator Bob Guerrero

"Instead of a triangle, the polyester template sits under the balls during the break and gets removed as the game goes on. The company that makes the template, Outsville.com, says you can get a tight rack, where the 9 does not move off the break, in 30 seconds. The U.S. Open this year will use an 18-inch-wide break box and the 9 ball will be spotted on the foot spot. As the video shows, the wing ball can only go into the corner pocket off a kiss, and the breaker's only real hope is to get the one ball into the side.

Think 9 on the spot is big , and like someone else said it can turn the game defensive .
