Well buddy, honestly, I like your elaboration on the topic. I doubt that the WPA ranking alone works as a factor to determine a player's strength. Fargo Rating is more about the current form. To be blunt, I did not compare the entry lists of the last WPC to the current US Open. Therefore, I am actually not entitled to call my opinion fact. It is more a feeling. Since I follow the international pool events quite closely when the electronic revolution made that possible, I have seen so many draws, brackets and stuff that I can rely on my feel for it. And this US Open bracket is definitely one of the toughest I have ever seen! I agree that there's people missing. First of all, Wu Jia Jing and Wan Can... But in the later past, not many Taiwanese and Chinese players had come to the US. Pinoys and Japanese jes, but not so much from the other asian countries. There is so many excellent players also in Thailand, Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and so forth. In this US Open there is a large contingent of players from these countries. More then ever I feel
But it might be that I am wrong when the due diligence is made between the two events.
I believe we can both agree that this is one of the toughest fields ever in an Open Tournament. Let's enjoy now :thumbup:

Dechaine down 4-0 and hasn't been to the table yet.
Hsu Kai Lun finally doesn't have a run out but plays a nice safe. Dechaine's first shot is a jump, and Dechaine hits it perfect.

The 3 americans on winners all off to a tough start, Dechaine down 4 zip,Rodney down 5 zip & Bergman down 4 zip.
Back and forth in rack 6. some good and some poor safeties. Hsu finally just fired at a ball and gave dechaine BIH. Almost looked rattled with that shot.
Dechaine's break is not working. Hsu's is near perfect.
After Hsu's initial run, he hasn't looked good. Dechaine looks like the better player. 4 games is tough to fade though.
I am watching Dechaine rack and I gotta say, he is tweaking those balls in a slightly different way then anyone else. Most people push all the balls into the rack and touch and spin the balls abit to get them to all freeze up. Mike? He is spinning one ball one way, another ball the opposite way, touching one ball on the top to keep it still while freezing up another ball. Then he breaks and the wingball goes straight into the pocket like it has eyes.
Say what you will, the guy is an artist with that rack. I would take a lesson from the guy that was just 2 hours straight of "how to read the rack" "how to rack the balls" and "how to break the rack based on what you read".

4-4. Dechaine winning the safety game by a wide margin. Hsu ran out like butter when he had the chance though.

It's really all mute when you have the top of that cream of the crop, the current WPC' world champion entered to play in the US Open, and we're talking about the man who just won it all, for all the glory that title brings with it, lose his first match to Corr, and is out of the US Open less than half way through, all the other world class players mentioned not playing in the US Open really don't mean a whole lot when....THEIR world champion, who has beaten ALL of them to gain that championship title....bombs out of this event, I'd say that makes the US Open pretty much stronger than cat piss right there!!:thumbup:

Seems like according to you, this US Open should have been just a walk in the park for KO, seeing how he's the current WPC' World champion but....who did he lose to again, less than halfway through this event....a top 10 player, maybe a top 20, how about top 30...I can't quite keep up with the rankings, sorry
