Let's look at two random players.

and the next player mentions her 20th ranking in WPBA

The players that do not completely fill out their player profile forms are cheating themselves out of FREE PUBLICITY and advertising.

If the players do not fill out the forms completely, they are depriving their sponsors of much needed exposure.

Maybe they will be able to fill out the form more completely at a later date.

The good players are busy playing and not trying to make their profile look so good.

I'm sorry, I can't agree with you on this. Kelly Fisher one of the best women players in the world filled in the Player Profile form that matches her professional playing style.

Likewise Shane Van Boening, Ralf Souquet and a host of others filled in the Player Profile form the way it should be filled in.

The purpose of the player profile form is to have the most current and accurate information about that player. Relying on old websites or "unofficial" websites that may or may not be updated is a poor way to share the best information about a player.

I'm sure some of the players have their reasons for not completing the player profile form, but "busy playing" can hardly be deemed a good reason, especially when this form takes less than ten minutes to fill out in its entirety.

Who knows, maybe the players will soon realize that the player profile form is for their benefit and not filling it out is to their detriment.

Inaccurate information being shared because needed accurate information was not provided is a sad state of affairs in my opinion.
 
This seems like a strange way to do a drive-by knock on emily.
Like you want to go out of your way to say "see, she's a bad player. You can tell by the profile on AZB".

Who really cares? AZ profile doesn't mean anything about playing ability.
Plenty of bad players leave their profiles empty.
And some good players fill it in. You filled in yours, didn't you?

If you don't see a champion spending time on AZB (whether it's filling out profiles or making posts)
it's not because they have zero free time. It's because they know they're going to get a bunch of shit.

Take a look at Kelly Fisher's or Allison Fisher's or Jasmin Ouschan's profile. I tried to post it, but it needs moderator approval. :(

He's referring to the Ultimate 10 Ball player profiles. JoeyA's response is spot on. It's sponsor publicity.

Really? This is the best you could come up with? So she's hot and can play some decent pool...She's got it, she uses it and she, as well as some other women in pool, are using it to get noticed. Don't be a hater...

You don't find it odd that women, in general complain they are not treated as equals, are just objects, they say "we can play pool too judge us by our skill", and the the main focus on the promo material is "hey look at us, we're sexy!"?

The Sexy Is The Teacher, not the game, to paraphrase someone on here ;)

It is odd..but I think the mentality has changed from "poor us" to "hell with it, we are gonna use what we got"....and that's not really a bad thing for us onlookers. ;)

The promo material is often made by the marketer, not by the players.
They might very well prefer that e.g. CW's flyer said something like
"come see the top female professionals in the world compete"
rather than "come see pool's hottest ladies".

Or they might just understand that's how you get people in the door,
so they live with it.

Marketing your looks, and wanting to be judged for your skill, are not mutually exclusive.
Just like playing well and being attractive are not mutually exclusive.
I don't understand the attitude I see all over AZ...
"Wow, she put out a sexy calendar.
I guess she doesn't want to be taken seriously, probably can't play a lick."

You can bet that if some of the male pros thought a photo session would double their income,
they'd be all over it like white on rice.
If you were born with the right assets, it's practically free money.
Of COURSE a player should take advantage of his or her looks.

Pool needs the exposure to get more money and sponsers in the loop. What players put in there profiles is what they feel represents them. If they need to sell themselves a little then so be it.

Dont knock anybody out there that's trying to do what they can to make pool a living. So what if she doesnt go about it the way you think she should! Atleast she's out there busting her hump and playing pool. Promoting pool the best way she knows how. What are you doing? Sitting behind a computer talking about how she should do things.

This topic is getting old... especially when you're knocking a girl. Shame on you.

Anyways to all those chasing what they want... do it!
 
I think the ladies are smart. Use the tools God gave you. Your beauty. Everyone loves it. The Ladies love it and so do we. It opens doors.

I agree with Joey. The players that are not taking advantage of the Ultimate 10 Ball player profiles are really dropping the ball. Not only for their sponsors but for prospective sponsors too.

It's certainly not too late to fill em out.

Pool is a TOUGH way to make a living. It REQUIRES relentless self-promotion to do well, whether you are male or female.

Original poster and other knockers = uninformed and petty.

Emily Duddy = totally professional (and most likely a MUCH better player than the clueless haters).

Just my opinion. Good luck to Emily, I find her one of the better examples of professionalism in the WPBA. At least she is trying to improve her game, and along with it improve the sport.

Yeah, cuz it probably took her all of 45 seconds to write that profile. All that table time she missed, damn, no wonder you are disappointed in her play :rolleyes:

It appears we are going to flog this deceased equine, yet again :deadhorse:

Perhaps if more players spent a little more time on how "their profile" appears while they are away from the table, pool might get more exposure and more publicity, and those players might generate more sponsorships for themselves. EVERY player has time away from the table. What do THEY do with it?
