* un·scru·pu·lous eBay Seller

Knowledge Is King

This is why buyers need to be informed and knowledgeable on what they purchase.

The seller is clearly wrong in knowingly misrepresenting the cue sold in the auction for the offer of $600, but the buyer got burned because he/she did not do their homework.

Beyond not determining the identity of the cue, the seller's feedback, vague description, and high price should have all been red flags.

my note to this seller:

this cue is a modern J&J cue made in china that you, yourself, purchased here on ebay. Now you have sold it as an unknown vintage cue. lol hope you realize the authorities in your area are on it. sleep well.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
btw, I went to his feedback as a buyer and I think I see the J&J feedback from the op of this thread, however, there is no link there to view item.
Is that some new ebay policy or privacy option?
Obviously, this seller would not want the "vintage cue" he "bought at an estate sale" to be right there for all to see that he just bought it on ebay.
should be simple for ebay to bust him on this.
One other thing. Who better to know how to cover up a logo than a bathtub refinisher? :angry:
best,
I feel bad if a newer player gets this cue thinking "Hey, it's 500 dollars it must be good or worth something" then they get it and takes it to someone that knows something about cues only to find out it's a 50 or 100 dollar cue. I guess I'm built different as if I were to even unknowingly give someone a bad deal I would feel terrible and make it right. This guy is going out of his way to fk people. I'll never understand..
I noticed this one, too. I checked out other descriptions of his
other items and he knows how to spread it on thick. Full of
shit is what he is.
Didn't the OP mention that this seller said he didn't know much
about pool or cues? He knows enough to beef up his descriptions
and prices(everything is jacked up). Yep, he's a DB.
Yep, Bad Beat. When a seller starts talking about X Rays etc, it makes you wonder if they might not be a member here, or at least reads the Forums.
X Raying a cue is generally reserved for the older cues, Balabushka etc.
Not something that one would do for any ordinary cue.
Like I said to DR. Big difference between a person actually finding a cue at an estate sale, maybe not knowing or taking a guess, and one that is purposely trying to make a buck and hurt someone.
Most people that frequent Estate Sales have a really good idea on many things found at one. If they find a cue, they will probably do some research on it as well.
It could be a hand carved cue from India or it could be of serious value. If they buy something for 10 bucks, they aren't going to sell it for 20 if it is worth 100.
Estate turn overs don't work like that.
I agree Blue Hog ridr. You know, it would be easier to give
the seller the benefit of the dought if we didn't know he
bought the J and J cue, sanded the logo off, added an extra
shaft, and then try and pass it off as an unknown estate find.
Since we do know these things now, thanks to the Op, it's easy
to see that he is a scoundrel and a con artist. There is absolutely
no excuse for doing business in such a blatantly dishonest fashion
such as this. No excuse, period!
I have no problem when someone finds a good deal on a cue and
flips it for a really big profit. But when there's deception involved
such as this, you should get jail time for fraud at the very least.
Get this, I asked him about Kinetic balancing and called him out on it. Told him I'd been in the cue industry for some time as well. Below was his reply. Made me chuckle.
Top cue makers in the world? Who? Chi& Cheng? Every-things made in China now - thanks to close minded rednecks like you. Balabushka, and Gus are dead. Besides, if your such a cue big shot, what have you got to worry about? You can't be too smart - or you would have made a different approach to me - than the one you just made. I don't have to disclose anything to you. Now run along, and get you own ideas.
here's the response I received:
Dear best-stuff,
It's really not any of your business what I do - you inbred snitch - with no merchandise to sell. You obviously were born with "no" creativity - or you wouldn't be spending your time sniffing dirty underwear, and sticking your ugly nose where it don't belong. If you could actually do anything - you wouldn't be running your stupid mouth. Get lost creep.
I am glad that there are members here who bring this type of stuff to our attention, I just wish that we could get the word out to a wider audience so the uninformed don't get taken.
