Unbelievable WRAPLESS Titlist Balabushka

classiccues

Morgan set complete...

Another gem unearthed, or should I say uncloseted, by classiccues. Brass joint, white phenolic joint ring, wrapless. This cue came with a Brunswick Zipper Case, that had the original plaquard insert filled out with the owner, and on the reverse it had Balabushka's address and phone number. Also the date it was purchased, 11/3/65. It is getting a letter, a polish and an extra shaft. The original shaft is a full 13mm. The rarity cannot be understated.

I've always wondered if one of those existed.
Now I know
Not much more to live for, and I'm glad I saw it here so I know it's the real deal.

My belief is that there are still some closet gems.. I have had two in a few weeks, after going years w/o finding any. I believe they are getting harder and harder to find, but they are out there.

John Wright ONCE told me of a gentleman back east....
" Had a BRAND NEW GUS Szam.
AND
A Brand new Bushka …
BOTH CUES , The gentleman ordered new from Gus, and George....
STILL IN THE ORIGINAL SHIPPING BOXES, UNOPENED .

If John Wright said it, I believe it.

So

So this is a cue that was commissioned instead of one that George built for sale?

According to the son of the original buyer. His father wanted a cue that would not be as gaudy as other cues, and wrapless. So this is what GB built for him.

Having talked with John Wright many times, I believe it too. However, John has been dead for many years, and the chances of those unopened boxes of Gus and George cues, still being unopened, in my opinion, are pretty small.

This cue looks nice. A bit worn, but nice. I don't think I would touch it in this case.

Always be on the lookout for those closet finds, yes indeed.

All the best,
WW

Oh I don't disagree it is unlikely. But it is quite the fantasy to think perhaps they remain untouched.
