just curious if anyone has had this situation
sometimes, where a darker wood meets a lighter colored wood in handle, it looks like i can see that difference in shade when the wrap is completed
nothing drastic but still a noticeable difference
more specifically, on a white w/???? wrap

What are you using for a glue, under the wrap? Maybe your adhesive is staining the linen. I use what they use at Mcdermott, Clear polyurethane. It drys fairly fast & doesn't soak into the linen...JER

i use white glue
 
Just cover the entire wrap area with permanent blk magic marker as you spin it slowly. That will make the area under the wrap more uniform in color. If using a lighter colored wrap then wipe the markered area down a bit after it dries if you are concerned it might bleed through. I've never had one bleed though...the marker does dry pretty permanet plus the glue stick I use seals it well. May not be the right way...but works for me.:)
 
I had that happen to me for the first time a few weeks ago. I put on a solid white linen wrap on a Meucci. The wood under the wrap was dark colored for the first inch, then maple for the rest of the length. The contrast of the woods came right through the wrap. I did not have a solution at the time, and the customer didn't even notice it.

Maybe it's soaking into the linen. The shoulder is fairly good during the day, but it keeps me awake at night. I have to make up my mind, whether to have the surgery, by the end of the month. The doctor says they don't have much luck with people over 65, because the torn tendon frays like the end of a wet mop, in us old timers. I think I'm going to opt for the scope surgery. They look in & if the tendon looks like the mop, they clean off any burrs from the broken bone & close it up. If everything looks OK, then they widen the opening & do the repair.
