Unique Shots And How To Make Them.

Many people play one pocket and this shot comes up all of the time. You should be able to make this shot and similar shots EVERY TIME. Trust me when I tell you that you will never look at this shot and say "Gee, I hope I get it close to my hole".

After reading my "secret" you will be saying, "I'll shoot and make this shot EVERY TIME!"

JoeyA (whew, I'm tired).

Sure, you can make it or hang it up every time in practice. How about when you are playing for $50/$100 a game, stuck 5 or 6 games and jumping out of your socks. This shot becomes brutal then. John

In the hole, right in the hole, every time for fun or fifty.

Now if the other guy has a ball sitting in his hole and the bet is for a hundred, I might hit the titty every other time I try the shot. :D

Jumping out of your socks? It happens to you, too? I thought it was just me.

If I'm playing The GingerBread Man.............in the hole, like it had EYES! ;)

As usual Joey, you're all talk and no action. If you ever play me, I'm gonna shoot your nuts off. You think you know some secret? That bank is a hanger! No more of that 200 a set jive either. Now you have to bet something. 1K minimum!

Don't be scared GingerBread Man.
Don't go on tilt.

More bobbing and weaving is all I get from you. We (the TAR guys and me) invited you to come to Olathe in two weeks but there was no response. So what else is new. By now this crew on here have a pretty good idea who's ducking who. You're not fooling anybody.

You'll get what you deserve too. A FLAT WALLET!

The second time we play, I'll probably have to give you a ball. :)

Anywhere between the two cueball positions a ball on the spot can be cut without scratching. Just have to be careful not to hit it too thick. Obviously not a hanger but it's makeable. I made this shot playing $100 a game 1 hole for the win.

You guys are something else. I feel privilaged to be one of the very few people who have ever seen you two in action against each other.

The shot you describe is a standard spot shot with the cueball in line with a head corner pocket to the edge of the ball on the foot spot (a "half-ball hit").

However I doubt that anyone could make the shot 100 times in a row. I practice that shot all the time, but my personal best is only 27 out of 30. I don't recall ever making more than 12 or 13 in a row. Granted, top players should be able to string more, but I'd have to see 100 straight without a miss to believe it.

The "secret" to these shots is that they're half-ball hits, which have the greatest margin for error of any shots in pool. You know those "wing shots" where the trickshot artist rolls an object ball down the table and pockets it while it's still rolling? Those are usually half-ball hits.

Here are a couple of videos from Mike Page explaining and demonstrating half-ball hits:

P.S. I'm reading Wonderboys now and really enjoying it.

I've communicated with TAR and they've expressed themselves quite clearly.

Please don't embarass yourself by trying to drag TAR into your fantasy world. They don't need to, nor should they be dragged into our discussion. Shame on you for doing so.

It should be important for you to remember, The GingerBread Man is just a myth; someone's imagination gone wild. :D :D

You are so unreal. :D :D

DP, please don't give away what you saw either or what you heard. It blew me away to say the least. ;) ;)

BTW, that is a nice shot you posted. I like it quite well. That is one of Grady's shots in one of his tapes that I purchased.

Grady's tapes are not choreographed. He shoots them, if they go great, if he misses he lets the chips fall where they may. I like Grady's tapes for that reason. If you see Grady and Randi, please them him hello for me.

What discussion? Just say YES and get your ass to Olathe. And bring money! I know you can't draw your ball for more than ten bucks.

I still like you Joey, but you have to stop woofing about a game you don't really want. You are setting a bad example for the young guns on here. They will think this kind of nonsense is acceptable.

P.S. I was just with the TAR guys in Reno. They WANT this match! I told them it was highly unlikely you would respond to my challenge to come to Olathe. And I was right.

Mike "In the Hole" Page (also known as "THE DING KING" because of his proclivity for whacking the side of his shafts) has developed incredible videos demonstrating many things that will help your pool game. You should do a search for all of Mike's videos on youtube.com

Semi masse shot

Here is a shot that I practice, but, have only used once. It is a good one to know and uses can be expanded when you see the possibilities. When the ball is too straight in to be able to get any type of shapes on the next ball.

It is shot as an elevated masse shot. You have to aim for a fuller hit on the 8 ball because of the squirt on the CB. It hits the 8 ball, then reverses and comes back down the table for the 9.

Kind of a show-off shot, but, nice to know.

I am beginning to think the Mike is probably one of the most underated instructors out there.

I have not seen him show anything that can not be found somewhere else, and he always seems to give credit to other instructors, but the way he presents the concepts in those videos is excellent in my opinion...

He seems to make it very very simple to understand...

Jay, you will get played when I go to the next pool tournament I show up at and one that you happen to be at. It may be soon and it may not be so soon. It will be when I am good and ready. Your poor laments don't sway me one way or the other. You'll have plenty to lament before its over. :)

Just so you know, Justin told me personally, that he doesn't care one way or the other about this match between you and I but is willing to let us play if the equipment is up and running and there is nothing else going on at the time. He also said he wouldn't like to see us betting anything special with all of the stuff they might have to put us through. I didn't ask for details but that pretty much sums it up. That doesn't sound like you are talking to the same guy that I am.

When I get finished with THE GINGERBREAD MAN, there won't be anything left but TOAST. :D

BIG WORDS from a man with small ----. Justin was the one that suggested I challenge you on the air from Reno. He was very enthusiastic about the possibility of us matching up in Olathe. I just got tired of all your boasting about chasing me down.

If we ever play, it appears I will be the one chasing you down. The red carpet has been laid out for you to play and you've declined repeatedly. Who really is the Gingerbread Man in this scenario? It sure ain't me! I'd like to play TODAY!

If you are in a hurry, get yourself down here this weekend at Buffalo Billiards. Let me know in advance because it's getting close to fishing season and my weekends could get planned out. I would pencil you in but if a fishing trip is already planned, you take a back seat. Right now the weekend is open.

I don't mind catching a mullet every now and then even if they don't put up much of a fight. :D
