United Postal Service strikes again.

I seal everything in PVC pipe. The package has no chance of being destroyed.

Yeah-the thieves appreciate the precautions you take.

Few things worse than a thief. Forfeitng fingers/ hands not a bad idea.

Sorry about your loss/ I can relate.

Bingo! Great protection from "accidental" damage through rough handling.
Doesn't help with theft, tho...so even with such great protection, buy the insurance...always buy the insurance.

Ok, here's some help from one of those A$$ ^^^** from the USPS.

Send a certified letter to this address, describe the cues in as much detail as you can.
Atlanta Mail Recovery Center

5345 Fulton Industrial Blvd SW

Atlanta, GA 30378-2400

I hope the seller purchased insurance for the cues and good luck.

Don`t take it personal.I wasn`t directing anything towards every postal worker, just the one that cut open my box and took the cues and yes in my book that person is a low life A$$HOLE.It doesn`t matter if it`s $1 or $1,000,000 or a cue or a car if you take something that is not yours you are a sorry s.o.b.Theft happens in all bussinesses and it`s never going to stop.
2 weeks ago I found a wallet in a hess gas station by the coffee machines,it had at least a $100 bill in it(corner sticking out)I was the only customer in there and the clerk was busy stocking cigarettes with his back turned towards me.I could have very easily taken it but I went straight to the clerk and gave him the wallet.I never looked in it and don`t know who it belonged too.I don`t know if the guy came back or not or if when he came back the money was still there I just know if it`s not mine I won`t take it.It could have been a very important $100 to the owner of the wallet (bills ect.)I will update the post when I find out more.

I know how you feel, BUT, frankly it's pretty obvious from the pictures that the package was not "cut open", it appears to have been torn. This could have easily happened due to some of the package handling machinery, conveyors or been caught between a couple of larger packages. The cue may be laying on the floor somewhere under some equipment or even on an aircraft. I hope you get your cue or at least are reimbursed for the purchase but it doesn't have to be a case of theft as you seem to be convinced. It could be, but it's not necessarily the case. Good Luck with it!

When all sides of the box are squeezed together at the cut and the box is sitting flat on the floor it is a level cut.The only part that isn`t is in one corner that looks like was the last part holding the box together before the final seperation. There is a smooth cut on one side that is definetly not a tear.
I`m not saying your wrong or right but a triangle box torn open and it is a level tear all the way around with a smooth cut on one side of the box? see pics

i'm a retired postal employee. first let me say "what a damn shame",HOWEVER not every damaged package is the USPS's fault. any package that flys is handled by the airlines. the USPS is an easy scapegoat. i'm not saying it wasn't us,just that other people between the seller and you do handle the packages. also the system is highly mechanized now and machines can damage something and it's on a belt going along the line. it's entirely possible it was damaged by a machine and an actual employee might never had touched it until it got to your home postal unit. stuff that falls out of packages is sent to a dead letter branch. your office should know which one serves you. your office should have someone who handles claims. you need to talk to them. they should send a request along the line of travel with an inquiry about your cues. hope this helps. good luck.

I've been looking at the pictures and honestly can't see anything that looks like it was cut. Does anyone else here see what looks like a cut or do you other folks think it looks torn? I've cut a lot of cardboard and other things in my life and unless they used the wrong end of the cutting instrument, the box definitely looks torn to me. I believe it's much more likely that it was caught in the handling equipment. Could even have broken the cue in two, if it was between the proverbial "rock & a hard place". Sorry, I don't mean to piss you off or argue with you about it. I know you must be upset anyway, you don't have the cue you paid for. But I'm just telling you what I see in the pictures. Take a piece of cardboard and a knife and cut across it and look at the difference. In any event I really do hope you get satisfaction from the Post Office for your loss! Good luck!

I was thinking the same thing. This package appears to have gotten caught in a machine or a conveyor belt and got torn open, probably damaging the cues at the same time. The package does not in any way appear to have been cut open by a person based on the pictures.

If you got anything at all of high value or that can break or that you don't want scratches I would highly reccomend against using UPS.

I use to work there and unload those tractor trailers. We're suppose to get them unloaded at 1,000 boxes an hour.. we're not there to take care of your sh*t, we're there to make sure we don't get yelled at. So you can imagine what goes on in there.. we got a belt that extends into the truck that you THROW everything on. When you get through with one section of the truck and come up against another 10 high wall of boxes.. how do we get it down? You guessed it, we pull out a box from the bottom until the whole thing comes down like an avalanche.

This is why the sellers should package their stuff securely. I package my stuff so that it can withstand a lot. In the past year we have had two cases damaged. I don't understand sending cues in anything less than the heavy duty cardboard tubes.

I don't think Casey or Bamacues will mind me posting these pictures of pool cues shipped through the Post Office. The last picture is a box that I received an 8 point Paul Mottey cue in and I was lucky that the cue wasn't damaged, but the other pictures are total losses......

Looks torn to me, the tear is just following the corrugations of the box. The cues are probably laying on the floor of some plane or a warehouse somewhere as previously said.

Oh beleive me, after over 25 years in service, I don't take anything personal. I have seen almost anything and everything happen over the years, nothing really surprises me.
I will say this though, tubes are the types of packages that do the worst during processing, especially round ones. Your particular package probably got caught by one of the machines and broke apart.
On another topic: there are very few ways to get fired from the Post Office, 2 right off the top of my head are 1) physical confrontation and 2) stealing. If you are caught stealing, the postal inspectors walk you right off the workroom floor that very minute. Sometimes you even get prosecuted for the crime, but to be honest, most times you just end up resigning and losing your job.
Postal workers get paid pretty good. We also have a good 401k program and a retirement program which most are eligible at the age of 56 now. Personally, it is not worth losing all that to get a $500 cue stick. Most postal workers have no idea what a cue is worth anyway, they probably think of the house cues when they think about pool.

As I stated in my earlier post, send a certified letter with a detailed description to the address I gave you. If the contents of a package are separated from the box it was in, this is where it would end up. You could also check with your local Post Office to see if there may be another address you could check with in your area for "loose in the mail" items.
This is the best I can do for you from Tucson Arizona. Good luck.:sorry:

If I had something of high value I would use registered mail at the Post Office. In this case I suspect the airlines crushed the box and the contents fell out. The USPS uses commercial airlines.

Now here is a man that knows what he's talking about. Registered mail can be insured up to $25,000 and each and every package has to be signed(literally) by each person that touches these packages.
Registered is kind of a pain to prepare, because you have to use "paper tape" to seal all the seams of the package. The cost of registered start at about $12.50 plus the cost of shipping, but the insurance is very minimal when using registered mail.
Another thing, registered mail because of the high security around it, goes through absolutely no machinery. It is a very small percentage of the mail so it's handled by people only. Ask any Postal worker how many pices of registered mail are lost, LOL. If registered mail is lost, we know who signed for it last, so none, I mean absolutely zero packages ever come up missing.
If you are sending high end cues, registered mail is definitely the way to go.

My guess would also be that it got caught in a machine. Here's a picture of a box that I got and you can see how clean the break in the box is, it could maybe mistaken for a cut if the shaft hadn't still been in the box.
