unknown cue on Ebay Fellini case and Paradise?

winner winner chicken dinner

So was it worth $1,500

The short answer is yes. To me and one other person it was worth 1500. Nothing ventured nothing gained.

I went ahead and won the cue. I have had a bit of money laying around hoping to get a few Palmer cues but have not seen any for sale. Link to my wanted page- http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=391921&highlight=palmer

Talked with seller the cue was originally found by the previous lister in an estate sale in NJ with this case. Seller bought the case from original lister in an after auction deal.

I would like to know who made the cue and will post high quality pics for you guys to debate the maker when the cue arrives. If maker can not be determine.... oh well its kind of nice having a mystery cue lying around.

I plan on getting the cue refinished with original two tone wrap and then it will go into my collection where I will play with it once or twice a week.

Pics

I find it always questionable when a seller who knows cues and for that matter anything on eBay takes the 5th in description and posts pictures that do not really help potential buyers gain a better understanding of cue but instead benefit the seller.

I do understand that allot of Cues and items have no markings and as a seller you need to 'watch your claims' or open a can or worms. This is a good reason to include even better close up photographs on your auction if you are being straight up.

Good luck on your purchase Sir. Hope it works out for you.

The original listing also calls it a titlist forearm. Does this cue have a titlist forearm?

JV

Definitely not a titlist forearm. Original lister was obviously not a cue guy.
Hopefully TATE is correct and this is a Balner made forearm.

Starting to hope it is a Karl Meyer (Mayer) cue they are hard to come by.

Does anyone know for sure the correct spelling of Meyer Mayer? The blue book has it both ways.

Be more careful about using the term "big cue dealer", big cue flipper, maybe more accurate. Chris may have an idea who made it, but I don't think he is being dishonest when he says he doesn't know.
JV

You and him sound like partners. He knows it is not a Paradise, he lied about where he got it and he insinuates it might be a Paradise when he knows full well it is not. He knows, that is why he had to lie about the cues origin in the auction.

I don't think the case will be worth much either. Bottom was torn up a little and the leather had shrunk and created a gap on the back of the case. I hope it turns out to be a Paradise. I was willing to roll the dice up to about 800. Too many questions about this one for me to jump on. I look forward to seeing the after pics.

Paradise

That sure doesn't look like a Paradise I have seen but listen to Tate and Joe V they know Paradise cues better than most.

Well, you must have much deeper pockets then many to toss around 1500 for an unknown. I would much rather not get burned. I would never be able to do that with anything I didn't know what I was getting. To each their own I guess.

The problem with Paradise cues is they are difficult to identify unless they are a common design or have the label. I will wait for better pics to see if this is a Balner forearm. It's a full splice construction forearm and there weren't very many makers doing this in ebony with veneers during that time period.

It seems every cue from that time period, when cannot be identified, is almost always called a Paradise. This cue has 2 or 3 that I can see, red flags. I have seen Malidises, Richidices, Palmerdices, and the very rare Mayerdunkadice. Just because it has MOP, and was made in the 60's, does not make it a Paradise.

I see these as the most misidentified cues, from that time period. As someone that has handled many, and sold probably more than any one else, this is not a Paradise.

No ****ing wonder I don't come on this site almost anymore.

1st, got the cue AND case that HE bought at an estate sale. I bought the case from him on the side.

2nd, I put the listing up with my phone cause I don't have a good camera anymore because I gave it to my ex in a divorce 2 weeks ago.

3rd, I DON'T ****ing know who built it. SAY IT IN THE DESCRIPTION! Oh, and guess who doesn't know who else built it? YOU NITS cause you've all been asking here for 3 days either "what is this?" or "he's ****ing shady".

4th, 80%+ people I shared the photo's with said paradise. I HAD NO LETTER SO ALL I COULD DO WAS STATE WHAT IT POSSIBLY COULD BE, NOT WHAT IT IS.

5th, I've sold more cues (other than Joe) on this site and ebay than all of you put together in this thread. Some of you don't know that because your new nits to this site.

You guys are unbelievable. Rush to judge even though you don't know what it is yourselves, me included.

As if the ad isn't 100% geared to imply it's a Paradise...

Can we get the contact info for some of these 'guys at the poolhall' who think it is?

And just exactly where is this alleged poolhall?

You must have a firkin 'flip' phone. Any somewhat newer phone has 10-13 MP, take killer pictures. You do not need an actual $1,500 digital 'camera' to take detailed informative close up pictures so #2 is BS with possible exception of divorce.

I think there is some nice work in the cue, either way. Worth a face lift for sure.
