Full Splice

I don't know if you ever saw his tapes, but I vaguely recall he would take one of his full splice cues and put it on blocks and stand on it. He would challenge other cue makers to do the same thing. He claimed that his full splice cues were much stronger than typical cues.
I was visiting with Burton Spain years ago, talking cues. We went down to his basement shop, and he did the same thing with one of his cue blanks and a Titlist Blank I had brought with me. He also said,"Not many cuemakers have the guts to try this with one of their cues." If that is what Mark Bear did with his spliced cues, then they are extremely tough, and have to be great hitting cues.

Years ago, Ray Martin advised me to buy a Randy Mobley cue. He was using one at the time. I was an idiot and didn't follow his advice.

About 7 years ago, Sean advised me to buy a Showman cue. What crappy advice that was....Sean is still my buddy. :)

Years ago, I was offered a brand new Prewitt with ivory joint and ferrules for $750.

Surprised that Cohen's name hasn't come up, from the cues he posted in the thread gallery, it looks like his work is very sharp.

The Alex Alpert cues i have seen on here recently are top notch. I dont know much about his cues or even where he is from but his veneers and inlays are stunning

+1. I actually have the only cue on order with him and he is not taking anymore currently. He is from NY. I hope you are right.

I don't think that anyone has mentioned Ned Morris yet.His work is top quality, his build times are not multi year, yet, and his prices are very fair.I have a strong gut feeling that Ned will be the next Tim Scruggs,or Paul Mottey. His cues play that well.He is "the man" when it comes to shaft tapers. Also,he uses Olivewood inside the shafts where the pin screws in.Olivewood is a very hard wood, and it helps to keep the threaded part of the shaft from wearing out.Thinking of these things and attention to detail is very important, and not a lot of builders do this.I would think that he will be a Hall Of Fame builder in the future.I have a build with him now and as soon as that one is done,I am ordering another.

I like Randy Mobly... Good solid cues. Very good investment.
I like Mike Yingling (Michael Cues) Nice solid work.... Great playing cues. Consider yourself lucky if u got one from him wnce he recently folded up shop and moved out of Florida to parts unknown. There are a few sitting in a case for sale at Side Pocket billiards in Largo. I'm buying one.

Ned's not an up and coming maker.
He's an established maker with pros and regional players using his cues.
