Update on my Jim Buss

Hi Everyone,

Last you heard from me, I was waiting for my new Jim Buss in the mail.

I received it the night before I went out of town (Sept 12), and an unfortunate event occurred and then I was away from my camera for 3-4 weeks. I am just now able to send you an update along with the photos (some have requested close ups of the points). Also, in the photo you can see the wrap is really a color not many prefer. LOL. I liked it, but will go with a darker brown for the next one.

Yes... the next one. I decided the Brown Mallee wasn't for me and will instead go with (probably) Bacote - which is more golden/brown than the reddish tint of the Brown Mallee. I also want to change the joint - probably to a wood to wood and softer in color. Still thinking about that.

Jim was very cool about my requests and has been very patient with me. I love his cues and the way they hit, I just had a different look in my mind and he is graciously accommodating. I joke with him my nickname is "The Pain."

Attached are some close ups of that cue. I can't wait in a few months to show you all my new(er) cue. Thanks for everyone's help in this forum and via pm's!

Thanks, Chris!

I am looking for a light colored wood to replace the Brown Mallee. Jim has sent me a sample of his lightest Bacote - it should arrive soon in the mail. The burl in your avator seems reddish - I'm looking for more golden/brown. I would LOVE BEM, but it wouldn't look good with the diamonds in the butt. :(

I welcome thoughts/ideas.

The white is holly... I couldn't afford ivory. :(

That looks nice... I still want to go with a more golden/brown piece of wood. I received the sample Bacote in the mail from Jim and I have to admit it looks real nice! I may give him the okay to go it, and to try and keep the lighter sections for my cue... unless I can figure something else out with the diamonds and possibly BEM? eek:

Sweet forearm

Looks like big $$$$$$$$$!!
A simple design in the butt sleeve might really bring more attention to that monster forearm!

Although that would allow me to have BEM in the butt, I just love the four diamonds that make a diamond design, tho. Hmmm.... decisions, decisions.

Nice Design!

Nice looking cue and design. I agree with you on the darker wrap. Good Luck and have fun with it! BigJohn

why did you ship it back? I didn't read the whole thread, so bear with me.....:o

It looks beautiful.

Hi Tony,

The brown malle in the butt and joint were not to my liking - they had a reddish tone to it and I am looking more for a brown/golden wood.

So, Jim is being patient with me while I still look for the wood that I am envisioning.

Melinda

Well, I finally made a decision about the joint. I called Jim last night and told him I want wood on wood with Holly. I heard ivory has a softer hit, so I went Holly.

So... more progress on the cue!

The only last decision is the butt and points wood.... thinking to not go with Bacote afterall.

Thanks for everyone's comments. :)
