Update on the Des Moines pool scene

It's small things like that sanction fee that will keep some out of towners away. People don't want to feel like added money isn't really added.

They should make it optional but at a cost. U can't ask people to run a free tour. The guy had multiple big events planned...the tr card should be 50 bucks but cheap ass players won't pay. Everyone wants something for nothing.

You can call them cheap if you want. But times are tough and a lot of people just don't have the money to throw away on a tournament they know going in that they don't have a chance at winning. I think thats why the friday night 10 ball is such a big hit and the sunday 9 ball is dying out. While were talking about cheap ass players how about the ones who were gambling for 100's and even a $1000 a set till 8 in the morning and didn't even think about throwing some green to Randy?

The option would be for players from out of area that might never play another tour event, like players from the south like Missoura or Oklahoma.

At a minimum shuff threw randy some dough for staying open. I don't know if he got anymore than that but my guess is he did. I will admit the gapper is a lost art in pool but part of it is getting charged for every minute you play. When people are in action sometime it is better to get the gapper than the table time. In the south a gapper is standard issued.

I already know who won't play so this post is obviously not for you. However Mike Henderson, Jody, Troy Honeycutt and a couple out of towners have expressed interest in a bank ring game.

What entry fee would you pay? Please don't say $20 that's boring as hell. I'm thinking somewhere between $50-$150 entry fee maybe $200 with 6 so the winner could win a grand.

Short Rack or Full Rack? I like full rack cause you get more play in and it's not so wide open.

I know the max people this would get is 6-8 people that like to bank.

Up to 6 on a table minimum of 4 people on a table.

If playing full rack banks allow 3 or more rail kick shots. No kick banks though.

Start with a stack of $2500 and play $100/ball.

Any other info welcome. Might run this in conjunction with the Hangover Tourney on New Years Day.

Nice comments Darryl. All you local Des Moines players need to thank Big Dogs for doing this, and let Randy know you'll drum up local support for the next one.

And... you guys need to make travel plans now for the next big tournament in Fargo.

$2500 added 8-ball
$500 added 9-ball

Mail cashier's check/money order to

Cheap tourney lots of money to be made. The champs might be warming up here!

Thanks Mike.

This is gonna be a great tournament weekend.

I think the turnout is going to be BIG, and I think the field's going to be not-so-deep, with a number of horses off at DCC.

If you've been thinking of coming up to check our place out, this is the time

Doesn't full rack banks turn into a long game of playing safe?

Nah man its a ring game so when you break u want to break hard and make a ball so you can keep shooting. That's also why you allow 3 or more rail kicks at balls too, to get rid of the safety aspect of it. No push outs obviously.

This kind of game should be right up your alley. Only 6-8 players gonna be allowed in and there will be no world beaters in it. $100 entry to get it out the mud. Anything cheaper than that for a small ring game I don't even want to be associated with it.

Go halves with people, names I got so far that are most likely playing are Jody, Matt Mitchell, Lil Joe, Mikey Henderson, Phil, Troy Honeycutt, and maybe Dustin...It would be better with 8 than 6.
