Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I played league with Sandy for about 7 or 8 years on the City League when she was still with Vince. Gerri McCoy, Jean McMurray, the Matthew's, and some others...I had more fun on that doubles league but the poor competition (no offense) tended to ruin my game.

The winners of the night paid in a dollar less than the losers, so our pay-ins were low and the payouts high.

I think we won that league 8 times. The payoffs were fantastic! One time we got over $1300 for first place, divided by 6 players...now that makes it worth it vs. the NEGATIVE return on investment we got last year for FIRST place in Valley.

The problem with city league is no ball in hand rules.

It was a lot of fun minus the pool part. The first game I had a ball tit out while hitting a break out. He ran out, 8 ball broke (hate that rule), and broke and ran to be up 3-0. It was too much to fade to come back from that. I basically missed 2 balls and lost 5-1 lol. The next match wasn't until about 5 and a half hours which is retarded and similar to a state tournament so I decided to play poker and drink vodka cranberries for free. Jason sent me a text at about 930 saying they were calling my name. Since I was busy stealing in poker I decided to foreit and continue to drink for free.

You have to win 4 matches in pool just to get what $500-600...I needed to let loose on the poker table and I did. I got a kick out of people raising 5.5 to 6 times the big blind preflop and having multiple calls, so an aggressive table...made just under $300 there. I got raped in blackjack, the wheel and slots.

We got to see a couple of shows including David Copperfield which was a very cool show. My buddy and I got to be a part of his last act. I was more of a decoy, but he and about 10 other people got to be on stage and he made them disappear, reappearing at the very back of the audience.

I only got to see a couple of escorts out and about on the street and we didn't hit the strip club. I filmed them doing the stratosphere which was very high up and survived that experience being afraid of heights.

Besides that nothing too exciting. There was a ton of money to be made in poker, but I was there with 3 other people so I only go to play the 5 hours. We did have several dishes that were awesome including an italian restaurant in a mall in one of the shop areas that was very reasonably priced and had the best lasagna I have ever had. That's about it, nothing too extreme on this end.

Read in the inflight magazine over the weekend -- Copperfield has a private island resort you can go to. Hang out with him for a week. A mere 265,000 per person. The likes of Gates, et al have stopped by for some R & R.

Saw him in Ames eons ago -- best show EVER.

He can make lots of things disappear...

Technically I'm in Des Moines - phew. Off the hook.

I hope they find it and if it shows up locally - I'm sure it'll get recognized. Not many lookers like that floating around.

Surprised it hasn't surfaced yet....

Glad it all worked out. But still gotta live knowing its around here. I will probably get beat by it in the 10-ball friday lol.

Just switched hobbies currently getting staked to play online poker now...at least until it shuts down permantly in the US.

Lol well it is still sort of legal for now, but they are shutting down more sites. Besides the big 3 Doyles room got shut down even though they say that was tied more to sports betting. I play on Merge right now. It also seems like more and more payment options are being stopped as well. Fortunately like I said I am being staked by someone (in Canada) so if I do well I think he should still be able to get access to the money, assuming I can at least do a player to player transfer. Time will tell.
