Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Two straight flushes in a row. What're the odds on that? A flopped one and drew another. Crazy.

if you look at the sheer numbers of hands they deal, I guess the odds are sure to come up once in a while.

But it sure is funky.
 
Yeah go home and grab a deck of bicycle cards and tell me how many days you have to deal until a straight flush and 4 of a kind come up. Now go play online for a couple hours and you'll see both like 4 times...those punk mothers!!!

If I had the time and a stronger stomach I could provide hand histories that prove we lose to bad beats at PokerStars at least 90% of the time. I don't even play any more but my husband, Tom, needs more in his life to whine about apparently.

So I need to hijack this thread for a moment to find out what time the Sunday tournament starts at Big Dogs. And do they open the tables? It is my understanding that its $15 9ball on 7' Diamonds, race to 6(?) Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I plan to play in as many of these as possible, for seasoning. :) It was painfully obvious in Olathe that I need it badly.

Tables are always open, they charge by the hour to use. Tables are open an hour before the tournament starts for practice. Tournament starts at 6pm, be there atleast 15mins early. Race is 6/5 rack your own, alternate break.

THIS IS A POOL THREAD FIRST AND FOREMOST....

Yup, $15 9-Ball alternate the break, race is 6W/5L played on Diamond Bar Tables. I hope you enjoy it. I can't ever bring myself to care about it enough to focus on it. Those Oklahoma girls played good though all tournament long, they were tough.

I thought the Iowa crowd in general had a very strong showing there. I'm still sad Ryan Cobb played perfect on his breaks and I lost to him. I wanted to cash that's for sure. Next time we'll both get there Karla!

I think we should have a side bet. :) When's the next Olathe tournament? If I'm able to go, and you're there as well, I'll bet you $100 I get more cash than you do (tourny payout only, no calcutta). We'll both cash, I'll just cash BIGGER!!!:p

OK as long as 3rd place in the womens counts as 32nd place in the mens...I'll bet it that way. I need a spot...the girls dog balls all the time and you Mrs. Lady9ball might not miss. We can come up with some creative sidebet though for sure...I mean I should get a pass if I gotta play Gabe and Jeremy Jones right?

Oh, and Sgt. Slaughter just wishes he looked like me. He needs to diet down a little and have a waistline, then he can fu@# with the fish.

Man no posts in this thread all weekend...what's up with that? Gotta go to Indiana for a few days, not excited about it. Then I get to come back and watch the festivities going on...I got my schedule hooked up enough that I should have time to get trashed before I go to the pool hall every day...which is super duper lemme tell ya!
 
Only thing i know from the weekend is:

Justin played Mike B.... (fri)even 1pkt, and lost .....(sat) 9-8 and won ..... (sun) 9-8 and lost. Not sure what Mike was up total. Justin says he wants to keep playing the game, he liked playing Mike.

There was some other cheap stuff going on, nothing worth talking about. Funny note Josh J came to town with Rich B and noone that i know of barked or tried to match up with them at all.

I played the sun tournament. beat a couple people then lost to Theo.....my losers bracket was 2-3 rounds ahead ..... and i had to play Josh Johnson who had lost in the winners to Athens. I said Good Luck Josh and walked out the door. Justin came home a couple hours later and handed me $15 and said, why did you walk out without collecting your money ? --- Obviously i didnt know i cashed :(

Yeah there was some other action this weekend too, fun stuff. Glad to see Athens have a good tourney.

Here's why you don't piss off engineers and construction crews though. I know times are tough and the economy sucks, but geez louise don't ever try to cut peoples pay on a Friday if you want them to come to work on a Monday! Case and Point the project I have going on in Rushville, Indiana. The Electrical Installers and the Automation Vendor all are working off of the same contract. They are ahead of schedule and I wanted to them to finish work early this week and commission the startup all by Tuesday afternoon. Then these dumb asses announce a pay reduction...well the people that should be on site for me are staging a coo with the company that they work for and absolutely not one person showed up on site. I am livid, I get the call minutes ago. With that said they should have a crew on site in a couple days but that means I am once again at the mercy of my job for whether or not I'll be able to sweat the SVB and Frost match in person.

Gotta love it, all you business owners out there...never tell people they are getting a pay reduction on a Friday, especially if that Friday is a payday!!!
