Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I don't...it's like the big game in high school both teams go in amped up and hell someone's mascot might have been stolen before the match. Like the national championship Florida Vs. OU had it all going for them. Think superbowls, De La Hoya or Bernard Hopkins...I could go on forever point is more people get interested when there is more of a storyline or something to follow.

The Superbowl with the Patriots and Giants. Tom Brady says, " So they think we're only gonna score 17?" ......... "haha, ok"

Guess what, the Giants worked his ass because of that. Being a big mouth at the wrong time leads to hidden ass whoopings.

Oh that was a public ass whoopin and you know what..we liked it. The reason you remember that quote is cuz it got shoved up his ass. You probably bet on the giants just cuz you were tired of the Pats being so cocky. Whatever the motivation it added to the excitement cuz on paper the undefeated Pats were supposed to run over the Giants.

We need some fan fare!

Ya know what's funny, is I have guys PM'n me and asking for action on the SVB/Frost match just because my profile shows I'm from Des Moines. That's Awesome!

To each there own...you probably liked when Icky Woods did his touchdown dances too. I am more of a Walter Payton fan...scoring a touchdown was his job, no need to go overboard with a celebration...he was supposed to score. Please tell me that people didn't want to see Walter.

There is no need for some big pre-match "weigh-in." Everyone that has been around both of these guys knows that they both want to win just as much as the other, and they are going to do whatever it takes, on the pool table, to accomplish that. They both have the utmost respect for the other, and they are showing that.

That's gloating and showboating...not so much a fan of that, although a good touchdown dance can land you on the Top 10 on Sportscenter. Now if he woulda did the touchdown dances in advance of the game, I would like it. Just where I'm coming from with that.

So far the line up is SVB, Scott Frost, Jesse Bowman(probably been practicing hard since John Morra worked him), whoever wins the qualifier, probably Jamie if he gets staked(Im sure he will he's a local hero), and who? I know who's not coming now, but won't even touch that cuz I'm being a sweetie pie. LOL sorry just cant get much excited for this "Ring Game" of 6 whole people.

Jamie probably could get staked to play in the ring game if he wanted. I hear he has to work that day though.

I'm sure he could...everyone loves to stake him...he has a way of making people only remember the wins and forgetting all about the losses. He has the guts to play in something like this too...he'd probably tell Scott and SVB to get their ass up and bet something too, that kid has a ton of guts, hard not to get behind him from that aspect. Plus when he's sober, he's surgical with his aim. Don't need much cue ball control when you play safe and bank as well as he does.

I can't get very excited about a 6 man ring, and $500 is keeping most of us on the sidelines. Eh, maybe it's just me. I was hoping for Ringling Brothers and a huge ring game to watch.

I like the Walter Payton method as a player -- Nothing is better than walking softly and shooting big stick.

... and as a spectator, I like watching the woofing, barking, yacking, playing, woofing, more yacking, etc. The jawing is what makes it entertaining -- to a point.

I always vote for class over class-less, but there are ways to entertain without being an ass.

Good promotion is what pool needs.

I'm so excited. I wish I could have taken now till Monday off just to hang in the pool room.

Let the show begin...

I'm pretty excited for the ring game...if you think the match this weekend will be total offense, try putting Shane, Scott and Jesse and 3 other good players in a game where they cannot play defense and see what happens. Those three right there are probably three of the best shot makers I have ever been around.

So, it's those three plus a qualifier for a total of four so far?

I think that goes for alot of great players. Also think about the quanity, when you play 200 sets a year you're gonna book some losers. I am about 50% when betting on Jamie. However the wins were worth more than the losses.

Business hours for the weekend

Hey guys, Big Dog Billiards will be open from 2pm to 4am or later, thursday - sunday this weekend. We will stay open as long as there are people playin or if there is action goin on.

Does that mean 4AM liquor license, or do the drinks stop flowing before that?

2am :(

Well 1:45 or so, somehow people never seem to accept the fact that you just can drink for aslong as you want.

I'm used to 4 am licenses in Peoria - unfortunately Dave's (the poolhall) does not have one....

BTW, I'm not complaining since I rarely have more than a brew or two, but I like my opponents to sauce up (I need it :p). lol
