Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Any really good looking girls, single, age 35 to 45, drinker and a smoker want to play the jack and jill tourney saturday? I play really good on valleys. A joke. Would play though if a jill is looking for jack.

LOL Gary, I like the want ad...I hope you come up with Aces on a reply. There are still some girls floating around that need partners. I don't know all the good women left, but a player(I mean that in the pimpish sense) such as yourself will have no issues!

What are the latest going ons? Everyone must still be reeling off all the craziness of the past weekend. I think I'll go to Dogs after work for a bout with the big table before I go to the movies and all that good stuff that I do a lot more of these days. nah meannnn!

Yes, still recovering from regionals this weekend, a birthday gig for a buddy at a bar after that, Monday night football where my boy AP did not have a good game, but old man smithers Favre did, and then now another birthday gig tonight as well...no league for Spimp tonight. Justis case is on order.

Hmm where's the Bday shananigans tonite? I'm going to the movies on the west side and will be in the Bogies area after that...might be able to drop in and throw one or two back before I make some bad decisions:o

Yep, around 7 or perhaps a bit early. I don't mind boozing it on Thursdays because Friday is our casual day at work and is usually more relaxed.

Very jealous of Sir Spimpalot atm. Been wanting a Justis for awhile now :(

Not much action going on lately. Lots of cheap sets. Everyone must have went broke this summer or just got tired of matching up.

Frosty the snowman needs to get a big game set up again and breathe some action back into the pool scene :)

Justis have Elephant ear pockets or anything exotic?

I had liked my Whitten I won from the raffle, except that it was a pain in the ass to get the cues out that had joint protectors. You would have to either turn almost upside or to its side to slide them out. Those pockets were 7 and 15, and the Justis is 8 and 16 so that will be a nice little bit bigger feature.

I ordered a black leather 2X4 with both the 8" and 16" pocket. It will have one ringtail lizard diamond on each pocket. I have also ordered the silver hardware accents, and silver hardware (rivets, snaps, buckle, black zipper). The shoulder pad will have SPIMP stamped on it. This will be my first real nice case I can call my own so definitely excited to get it.

I agree - Justis cases are always timeless and flawless. I just wish I had one...

Along with a Runde, Ed Pruett, etc...:yeah:

Thursday tourney might be a Saturday tourney that would start around 2 PM...either way I think it all may come to fruition. It's being kicked around right now.

I am gonna bring a little NC to Iowa though if I get to run this tourney. We're doing the break and run pot WAY differently. First of all, it's gonna be by the ball. So say the pot has $1800 in it, that's $200/ball. So you sink one on break and make 2 others you win $600. That's how that part will work. The other part is gonna be raffle tickets sold seperately for $1 a ticket. This used to work really well for tourney attendance and gives that added incentive to come play. In NC I busted 3 pots for over $4k and one pot for $9k. I don't expect them to get that high here but people used to corporation buy and get a $100 worth of tickets and when you have 30 ppl in a tourney and a couple people break dry a couple weeks in a row it sure does build that pot sky high.

Anyway that's my gameplan. I'm also thinking about doing something for the lesser players to make them want to play...maybe $12 for the best of the best, $10 for the good players, and $8 for everyone else. I don't wanna handicap the races because that gets too hard to manage. Anyway that's the latest in the kitchen right now.

I have played in tournaments that have a break pot just like that. The break pot took place on the toughest 9 foot table in the room, to make it as tough as possible and also to build up the pots. Last time I was there, each ball was worth close to $1,000.

Exactly Mike, a 9ft would be nice and get that money up. Where I lived before we had some of the strongest players in the country at some of our local tournament. The tourneys were not handicapped in a lot of cases. They ALWAYS were full, like an hour to a half hour in advance. Why? Because of that B&R pot. Especially when it got good and high oh man, you get together with like 3 other guys and all throw in like $50/person and let your best shooter buy the tix. Good times, I know you're thinking about the fact a lot of people here can run out, I know for the money per ball though it's a little harder. It's like being on the hill in a big set or tourney, that's the hardest run out.
