Update on the Des Moines pool scene

You mean the owner is finally figuring out that there are some things that are required by code to do in a building lol.

I wasn't really putting this on you but your post looks like you think its funny that they are having trouble with the city codes. If I misunderstood your meaning I'm sorry.

I agree that Big Dogs is basically the only pool hall outside of Stix in Des Moines so I obviously want them to succeed. I was laughing because I am not surprised at what is going on based off of decisions the owner has made in the past and present. I am not going to get into it with the insight I have on the subject. I do agree some of the nit picky codes can get ridiculous so that would be more of an annoyance for sure.

There's certainly room for more than one pool hall in a city this size. With your privy information and insights to what it takes maybe you could open up..... never mind.

Father, believe it or not while in college working on my major in Business Management in the lovely party school of Northwest Missouri State one of the classes I took did a very good job covering this. We had a big project where a guy just bought a lot and was looking for ideas on what businesses to start. Being adament about it since we had to make business plans on 2 ideas, I was able to pursuade the team to do a pool hall as one of the ideas. Our other option was a dance club thingy which I was thinking blah to that. It was one of my best classes I took since I was able to see exactly all that is required to open up a pool hall.

Wish I had the funds as I know exactly how I would do it 10 years later :(

And all the pool players in town wish you did too.

Hey - Any port in a storm.

Well, I hope they hurry up.

It's always true -- you don't know what you got, till it's gone.

I've missed Big Dogs and I've missed Mikey Frost.

Like the last place, I'm guessing they're plywooding the urinals.:p

I think we all will be pleasantly suprised. From what I "hear", they have went over budget three times. I also "heard" the big difference now is that they have a partner with big pockets that is also going to run the place.

Maybe they'll have a "timeout" room where losers can go and break stuff.

I dont like to play on "big pockets" can they tighten them up like all the gamblers here in DM.

Reminds me of pocket reducers. I have some at home and they bring out a few cuss words that is for sure when I use them.

Big Pockets and pool rooms hardly go hand in hand.

Here's to the Big Dog rising from it's ashes, like the pheonix.
