Barouty had a spot according to everyone at the Maryland qualifier - was sad to see his name not on the list after all. hope he is well.
 
I think this is just partial.

Harriman said he is going. Schmidt is going. Bobby Hunter is going. Looks like Charlie didn't have time to add the Americans to the list yet except for a few that qualified.

He left off other qualifiers too. Bob Cozzolino and Mark Snodgrass come to mind.

This is only the"confirmed" list. I'm sure that many others will be "confirmed" soon. Hopefully we can get Ivica Putnik added to the list! He played his heart out to win the European Championships - and IMO has a good shot to go far in the WC!
 
What about Charlie Williams? I guess if he played no one else would enter. :thumbup:
 
Hi Guys,

Captain Hook has been here in Rochester for the last two weeks. He told me he was playing. Knowing him, he may have been jerking my chain:confused: Regardless, if he plays, he's ready. Been running lots and lots of racks. I wish he'd really get serious!

Who is Ashley Nowlan? Couldnt find any info but I know there are a large number of great Canadian players that could have filled the spot.

He is a good Canadian player... I sent him a message wishing him luck... sounded like he didn't know he was entered. He asked where I saw the list with his name on it.

I understand straight pool is a different breed but what about Montal, Morra, Edey, Klatt etc?
 
It can't be a real World Championship unless it is open to anyone who can pay the entry fee, by invitation only means the players who are friendly to the management. Invite Grady and Earl and all the other pros in the world and it can be a World Championship.--Leonard

Ps anyone that plays needs to hire a friend to sit in front of the tournament board so the times don't get changed to benefit friends of the orginization.

Golf has the World Match-Play Championship and it isn't open to everyone. I'm not saying it's right, and I do wish everyone had a chance to play or, at least, have a qualifying system that is more accessible to everyone, but it is what it is. I'm just fortunate to have a chance to play this year because, for anyone who loves the game of straight pool, this is THE tournament to play in.

I'm also not sure that anyone willing to put up an entry fee should be allowed to play in a professional event. No other sport is like that, and for good reason, in my opinion. I realize that, if people had to qualify and/or be invited to every professional event, the number of events that I could play in would be dramatically reduced, with me not being a top player, but it does give a tournament some legitimacy when you don't have people playing who lack the skill to compete at that level, but who can afford an entry fee.

I'm pretty sure Allen Hopkins is going to play. At the million $$$ tourney he was looking for a sparring partner to get him ready for the event. Negotiations are ongoing as to weight and $$$ amount were gonna play for....I'll let you all know what happens.

Do you need me to come and keep track of match times. We wouldn't want some people tipping the scales in their favor (again) would we. Plus we all know how punctual you can be. :)
