I would love to hear some stories about Shannon playing when he was younger. I heard he was an explosive player. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to see him play since he really hasn't played competitively in a few years. I mean I have seen him play good pool but you know what I mean. I have heard so many stories about his game when he was in his prime. Please share.:)

If u want to know how he looked like when he was 13 year old please stop by Billy Johnson`s pool room in Richmond,KY on Inter State 75. Shanon`s picture is on the wall.I am opposite of JAM.JAM can give good details of what she sees.I do not have that ability. All I can say is that I liked Shannon when he was young-Besides being a champion class player he was very sharp with his one liners. He played for big money even as a young kid ( like Tony watson). Next time u run into the cue repairman Joe Blackburn u can ask him about the teen age shannon.Joe was born and raised in Ashland,KY.I am guessing that Joe definitely may have something to share.

Does anybody know who won between chad and jw?

That is a very good question! :D

Man, I sure do hope they're not still playing the tournament this afternoon. They did get a huge turnout, 128 players in total! Maybe everybody is still sleeping after the dust settled!

Uhhhhh, where did you get the info that Gary hasn't played pool in the past 20 years? He might be wishing he hadn't played any pool the past 20 years as he would then have enough money to buy a small yacht.

That is just what I was told.....
I just know he told me he just started playing again.

Vagabond,

We actually flew w/ Joe to Vegas for the IPT event. Over breakfast we had a few laughs at some stories of Shannon & Joe reminising. Joe is a great guy and his stories are funny.

JAM is a great storyteller- I love her posts they are always well put together.

No one has mentioned how nice it was to see Scotty Townsend stick it in that jackass Johnathon Hennessee, winning an 8 ahead set for 3 large in about an hour. He was going to the bathroom every time he missed , throwing his cue around and wouldn't shake Scotty's hand at the end. What a piece of dung.

Scotty

Jonathan beat Tony Watson with the last two, and then Scotty rolls over Jonathan. I don't really know Scotty's speed, is he as good as Tony?

This biggest shocker would be if Gary actually made it back to St Louis from Mobile with the 7th place winnings still in his pocket.

This and the "small yacht" comment are priceless. More like Tiger's boat I would guess. They reflect Garys' perpensity for gambling ( some would say going off) quite well.:)

Well, Scotty's been rode hard and hung up wet. But when he's in the mood, he's got command of the table as well as anyone. I watched a little of the match with Hennessee, and Scotty wasn't doing anything wrong: perfect patterns, perfect shape, manufacturing angles, great safety recoveries-- whatever he had to do. I've seen him play that well many times-- once when he dismantled Jesse Bowman in a Pechauer event.

Now he's got himself some upper teeth and he even LOOKS good. He used to look like a tavern reject; now he looks like a matinee idol! I noticed he wasn't drinking during the Hennessee match...

But as far as comparing him to Watson, I couldn't say. You'll have to ask Hemicudas about that.

Honestly, the "small yacht" comment was partially stolen from Louie Roberts. He told me once that he did a TV interview and told the reporter that he had won & lost enough money to buy an aircraft carrier.

Wow, losing his first match and then going through those top notch players to WIN is quite a feat.
Which champion beat him that first match ?
Doug

I heard that the guy was a just wannabee player but that he really wasn't anybody and that he got lucky against SD.

A BIG CONGRATULATIONS TO: JAMES "Scaredy-Cat" WALDEN.

James used to hardly ever come in the money in tournaments but would almost always put some serious whoop-ass on his opponents for the cheese. Things change....

He doesn't, but Jamey Bowman does. (Lost to Chad, hill-to-hill, years ago
when Jamey, Jesse, and Chad ran together).
