Why would anyone deliberately take a drug that would mess with theikr concentration and stroke?
I certainly wouldn't.

Drugs are illegal, foolhardy, stupid, and dangerous. Talking about them like they are a cup of coffee gives the message that it's OK to take them. It's not.

Drugs are like any other tool. They require careful use if the job is to be done successfully.
Uppers, at the right time, can make a tremendous difference in good outcomes. To dismiss them or to embrace them wholeheartedly is irrational. Use them with care for specific circumstances and they can be good and valuable. For example, the government* gives them to military pilots who are in the air for long periods of time....it makes killing people more efficient and saves replacing crashed airplanes. The risk of use is small compared to the risk of mission failure. This could be true of a late-night pool match, too, couldn't it for SOME people, SOME of the time?

But recently I have had success "lasting till late in the evening" by regulating how much I eat and when I eat. Basically snacking lightly throughout the day. Then if I know I will have a few hours before my next match, I'll go eat a larger lunch or dinner. I get sleeply after eating a larger meal, but I'll have a few hours to get rid of the sleepiness.
Then I'll take one of those herbal energy pills (sold at health food stores)around 2 pm. This kind of makes me feel "normal" energetic, but not "pepped up".
And I try to stay away from too much soda pop/caffeine.

OldHasBeen said:In the '70's - UPPERS - were VERY popular. They were usually prescription diet pills. Many different names but the most popular were called Black Beauties.
I took one, one time to play, because I could see the results from the better players who took them.
My Experience Was - I lost More $ - AND - Had More Fun than ever before.
I NEVER again took one to play on - BUT - Many times - IF- I HAD to drive from say St. Louis to Vegas OR (one time) from Miami to Denver - I honestly THINK they made it possible and helped me to stay alert. I always slept for at least 10 hours before playing.
One very important fact to remember - Louie, Carrillo, Clyde, Tony and Many, Many more (some still with us) - ALL started on - UPPERS & WEED.
