Played in my first tournament last night after taking a break from pool for 6 to 8 months. Finished 5th and played well. Next time it's mine.:thumbup:

Nice shooting. Another upside of losing is if you lost with class, congratulating the player that beat you and wishing them luck, you brought dignity to the game.

Some say "show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser," but I say "show me a good loser, and I'll show you a good sport."

Wishing you continued success.

Losing helps some people keep the ego down a bit (key word some). Especially when you lose to someone who is half blind or my buddy Jimmy. That is what a detached retina 3 times will get you. Poor guy leans in when he fights drunk...Good luck with the next one!

There is NO upside to losing...imo.

I've never lost a match that I wouldn't rather have won.

That said, I do lose sometimes, and even though I'm boiling on the inside, I manage to squeak out a fairly sincere, "Good match".

I agree winning was the preferred outcome. Won first 2 matches 5-1, then was up 4-2 and somehow the 1, 2 and 9 lined up for the guy the next three racks. I cant compete with that luck, just gotta shrug it off. Final match went hill-hill, was running out from the 2 on a tough spread and got a little out of line with the last 3 and dropped whitey. I played better then I expected with a tough draw and got a hell of rush. I love pool.

As Tonya Harding would say "You can only take losing so much before you snap and start busting some legs".:eek:

Upside Down

The upside to losing is that you have the privilege to watch the joy of the guy who won, while he dances around with pockets full of money...oh wait, that sucks a fatty:angry:

Upside to losing;
You got to 'test' your game once again. Test results still require execution and completion of tasks.

I always enjoyed playing "the match" it was just 'icing on the cake' if I won.

If you are honest with yourself about your skill and set realisitic expectations there can be no downside to losing.
