US Amateur Championship- Tampa

Stevea...who won in Tampa? I heard that Richko was one, which didnt surprise me...but do you know of the others?

yes Richko qualified and so did Jose (the room owner). When I left there were some finals still going on, like Carl Marks and a few others but besides that, I'm not to sure, there were a lot of people from all over the state playing in it. I think there were 9 or 12 men that qualified, I don't remember!

IF she is who I'm thinking of, she was playing a couple of tables over, at BCA Vegas this year. (I have a weakness for cute, petite blonds...)

As far as Harry Perrine, I think I know him from years ago...shorter, heavy set guy with a mustache? From NJ?

Eric

damn e. sounds like you've got the clock on everyone. i know kristen was in vegas for bca. she was there for a few events i think. the one im just about positive she was in was doubles with my friend (and pretty damn good player) clay fisher. and she's not just attractive and a good pool player. she does amazing original glass works. she has a website if you google her i'm sure you can find it. she is truly talanted and as nice a person as you could hope to meet. and if that's what harry looked like years ago, i gotta tell ya - he hasn't changed. great guy and a good shot too.

Must not have been Kristin Malone from Atlanta then because the girl that won in Charlotte had pretty dark hair.....definitely not blond!

U.S. Amateur Qualifier

I have to play in it this weekend in Austin, Tx. There was a scheduling error so half played last weekend and the rest of us have to play this weekend. I look to improve this year by winning it and not settling for 2nd again.

Sorry just don't remember. A few matches finished well before mine did and some of the winners had already left.

I would like to add the sportsmanship at this tournament is outstanding every year. Definitely my favorite tournament of the year.

You must play well bc that Joseph Cole shoots straight as hell. I watched him play last year at Strokers and he has a nice gear when he gets going.

I would also agree that the US Amateur event, especially the national event is a great event and the sportsmanship displayed at the event is refreshingly different than any large cash tournament ive been too. Even though I haven't done well in the two events I played in, I really thought that the event was so well done that it inspired me to join APA and try to go to the other national events that APA runs. I went to the Vegas team event in August this year with my 9ball team and our team finished in the 33rd place group out of 399 and it was a freaking blast. In October I play the regional event to go to National Singles event and I hope I qualify. I know alot of people, including myself many, many times, have bagged on the APA and not spoken highly of it, but their national level events are great fun and the reason im part of APA.

The fact that you beat Cole, well lets just say I think there will be softer draws in the Tampa tournament than you. Congrats again!

Joseph Cole

JoJo hasn't even hit 22 yet and he plays terrific. Sometimes he lets his emotions get the best of him, but he is always a gentleman player and a great kid to boot. He's destined to be a great player for years to come.

He is no doubt a great player and a gentlemen and would probably beat me 8 out of 10 sets if we played again. He has such a confidence and ease around the table it was a bit intimidating and trust me I'm hoping next year I don't have to face him again. :)

i will be playing in Tampa. My buddy Joe Cole didn't Qualify this year. he made it to the finals and lost 11 to 8 i think. hes still a good player though

Congratulations to all who won a qualifier!
I am hoping to make it over to Tampa and watch the championship rounds!
(Maybe I'll hit a few balls before then) ;)

That's him and a super nice guy.

Protocol has a great stroke, a commanding presence at the table and exhibits good sportsmanship "ta boot". I also agree that this tourny is great to play in. I didn't witness one altercation all weekend. I hope the APA keeps it this way.

My only complaint was the shoe rule.
