Anyone else see Thorsten's interview with Jay Helfert after the final? Jay asked how it felt to be the US Open 10 ball champion. Thorsten corrected him and said "US Open 10 ball barbox champion." Haha

Haha that's great, I want to see that.

Rodney Morris is the last true US Open 10 Ball Champion but the tape is gone forever featuring one of the greatest comebacks in a finals ever. I agree on adding the bar table to the name.

I thought Rodney won the Ultimate 10 ball? I don't think they called it US Open

That's not on youtube anymore?

The match never saw the light of day. First I heard it was going to be put online when they got to it but then they got to it and the video was ruined somehow. We are all missing out because it was a very good finals that had the big lead, comeback and some drama at the end, I would pay good for that match. There is the final last couple of shots that I think Royce of OB cues put on there. Here it is... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WclvkoWzn9k

Thanks for keeping it real Thorsten !!

I'm guessing that video will be uploaded on the csi youtube channel soon enough unless they don't want people to see Thorsten calling it like it is haha.

Funnily when Rodney was banned after he won, he said he is still the defending champion as he was not given chance to defend
Now Rodney kissed and made up with them, they play toy tables so technically Rodney is still the defending champion :grin-square:

I wonder if they will go back to the 9 footers next year. How much more money can it really cost them to have some 9 footers on site?

From what I understand, 7 footers are more expensive than 9 footers. I think they want to use bar tables to promote bar table leagues and stuff.

Best I can remember the hard drive in the tricaster ran out of space. When that happens sometimes it corrupts the entire file. I want to say the match took longer than normal and that came into play. I went to recording on external drives so they were swappable. With the tricaster there is no way to move files off the internal drive while streaming.

I didn't know all this happened till I went to dump the internal drive and start processing the files. Sh!t happens. Sadly it happened to the one match that fuels conspiracy theories. Its more likely for things to get missed after a crew has worked 10-14 hours a day for seven to ten days and that time frame is when the finals happens.

Thanks for the explanation Justin and you are right that something like that can fuel a conspiracy theory with all the drama surrounding that particular event. Mark had said it was lost but nothing in detail, sucks it happened but you are right Sh!t happens.

From what I recall when Mark was still answering questions about it, it is indeed far more expensive for them to use 9's.... They already have the 7's at their beck and call, that's what they use all the time. The 9's are something they have to arrange, at a much higher cost.

Not defending it, nor condemning it, just saying what I recall was stated. I could be wrong, I often am....I'm married . :p
