US Open events at Griff's

$10,000 cash is not chicken feed! No extra travel involved since they are already there, and there is a lot of low cost lodging in Vegas now. Shane seems to make a score there every year at Griff's after the big events are over. Many of the top players are gone and the fields are relatively small. The Ten Ball had only 48 players, but it was not a soft field!

Too bad these events didn't draw a lot of players from the PBS Vegas events, I would really like to see +100 players in each event there.

10 ball had 37.

I appreciate the free stream but the talking heads in the semi's-finals were pretty bad imo. Also, having that stupid chat screen visible the whole time was annoying as fk. Finally just turned it off, it could have been a lot better but for free so what i guess.

I watched one semi and the final.
It felt like I was watching 2 guys playing a set for $50.00 at any pool hall in the United States.
Unless I missed something I saw five birds on the rail with four of them on their phone and a couple of drinkers at the bar occasionally looking over.
I’m not a promoter so what do I know.
The USA Open 10 Ball Championship.

You’re viewing the stream through the wrong lens. They aren’t trying to emulate a top-tier professional commentary team like you’d find on a matchroom production. Their approach to streaming is meant to emulate what it’s like to watch a match with your friends and all of the commentary/banter that goes along with it.

Also, his name is Collins, not Collin.

That is incorrect. Not viewing it that way at all. Nor would I say the Matchroom commentary is any better than most.

his approach to streaming is to BS as much as possible and toss as much crap as possible on the stream. Collin acts like a complete arrogant a-hat the entire time. If you even listen to it, a perfect example is his interactions with his supposed bud Mike. That guy acts uncomfortable and awkward with most of the crap that comes out of Collin's mouth. Thankfully he doesn't show the non stop picture-in-picture close up of his mug from the booth during play. There is only so much crap you can fit on the screen.

Matchroom employs/has employed some of the best commentators in the game currently so it sounds your bar for what constitutes good commentary is too high.
Is that all you got, to spin it into a stupid unrelated Matchroom conversation. LMAO

If you are a fan boy of Collin, good for you. More power to you.

Collins does a lot of work to set up and stream. I can see how his commentary might not be everyone's cup of tea, but the negative comments seem personal and a little unnecessary.

I tend to ignore a lot of the commentary and almost all of the chat but love the fact that I get to watch great matches for free.

I remember when the only way I could watch matches like he streams were to send Accu-Stats a bunch of money and wait for tapes or DVD's to arrive in the mail. Now we get free streams and the guys who drove hundreds of miles to put together a whole streaming set-up get dumped on by people who don't have to pay a dime.

Put it on mute, ignore the chat, and just enjoy watching Shane give another masterclass in eight ball and ten ball.
