Limiting the filed to 128, PAT handling ALL the money, and publishing the player list as it fills, is the best thing that has ever happened to the US Open, in all its years, IMO.
If it continues like this in future years, the players will have to get off their bums, and submit entry early, or be shut out. It will be just like Zuglan's Turning Stone event. Pay up, or shut up.
It has the potential to be filled months in advance. This *may* help secure sponsorship, spectator seating, event organization, etc.
