US Open Scoring Updates

Wow! Great semifinal, and we must now count Donnie Mills as one of the game's most elite.

Nonetheless, the final brings us the two best players in the game irght now, and I cannot overstate how jealous I am of anyone who's there.

Last time I saw these two hookup, Ralf beat Mika 9-1 in the semis at Turning Stone this summer.

Have they met in competition since?

Hopefully Ralf will win so we can see Mika do his impression
of a 4 year old that doesn't get his way.

That makes three matches in a row that have went 11 to 10. But this one has to continue to 13, so we will have to wait and see if it goes hill/hill also.

Well done, Mika. If, later this week, Mika can add the International Challenge of Champions title to his title at Galveston weeks ago and his win at the US Open today, he'll be on one of the bigger rolls of any player in recent memory. What a year he's having!

As remarkable as Souquet's career has been, and despite countless successes against Mika, Mr. Immonen was there to deny him on two monumental occasions, the 2001 World Pool Championship final and now the 2009 US Open final. Still, congrats to Ralf on a great US Open and wishing him continued success.

With Ralf and Mika reaching the final, and Johnny and Allison inducted into the Hall of Fame, it was truly a week in which sustained excellence was on fullest display and celebrated to the limit.

Is it too late to add Donnie Mills to our Mosconi Cup team? After all, he took both Souquet and Immonen to the hill and they are Team Europe's best, hands down!

Mr Clearwater Kid does not fly, so I would beleave that's out. Unless he makes that trek by auto.
