That scratch on the 8 really cost him the match...

I can't explain in words how brutal that was... It felt like he was gonna run the set out at that point... Crowd was behind him... It was simple z shape that you play a million times.... He had to hit that 8 too full and with running english on order to scratch from there... just brutal

Earl definitely had a chance to win that match. I think Darren was feeling a little heat toward the end there.

Without a doubt. Mid-match Earl got into his give-up mode and started to throw the cue at the ball. Then Daz took that short break and came back to a much calmer Earl. He started playing as good as he ever has. Wasn't enough, unfortunately.

Darren was nearly flawless and seemed to have a better read on the speed of the table. Most of Earl's mistakes were from stroking a bit too hard. Still, he made a great showing here against the reigning champ, so my hat is off to him. I'm bummed, but a well deserved win for Daz nonetheless.

Now for THE match of the whole event, Efren and Dennis! How exciting!

I suspect Daz felt very relieved when Earl scratched off that last kick shot. Daz did play great and definitely deserved to win.

I think Efren's gonna need to summon up some more magic here if he's gonna slay this next giant.

Way to go Earl!! You always were, and still am, one of my favorite players to ever wield a cue. Even though you fell shy today its good to know that you're still one of the most expolsive players in the game. :)

Totally agree with you here... You could see it in his body language and thought process with that final bih... balls wide open, everything goes, he lines up 3-5 combo with bih and shoots it...

If Daz had left Earl a shot when he missed that combo I think the match is dead even from there.

Seems like Ralph Eckert is doing co-commentary on the orcullo - reyes match. he`s got great knowledge, but his english isn`that good unfortunately.

So who is Wang Can???

this is all i found on him

"Little Wonder" Wang Can of China continues to make believers as he defeated top Filipino Warren Kiamco for the second time in a row last night! This time he defeated him in 10-ball after already beating him in the 9-Ball. The Championship Cloth 5th Annual Pro Classic events are a pro 9-Ball and 10-Ball event during October 16th-20th, 2012.

Wang crushed Kiamco 9-4 in the 10-Ball. He has added Warren's name to his notches already including wins over Johnny Archer and Thorsten Hohmann.

Probably a pick em the way Efren has been running this week...

But coming into open it would probably have been Efren don't 10, 9 is a push vs dennis...

I got to watch Efren the first time he won the Sands to'urnament in Reno, probably '85. The Philippine contengent was walking around with a briefcase of money and the only bet that could be made was how many games a player might get against Efren. When Efren played Ed Kelly I was seated right behind the Phillippinos and Cole Dickson came along and said "I'll bet a thousand Ed gets to 7." (the race was to 9). The Phillipinos conferred and returned with "If you bet 2,000, Ed gets to 7 for 1,000 Ed has to get to 8." Cole left and came back a little later and bet 2,000 on Ed. Ed was the only player to get to 7 against Efren in the whole tournament.

He played Earl in the finals and tortured him. Efren broke and ran 3 then on the 4th rack over cut the 1 and left it in the middle of the foot rail and froze the cue ball to the back of the ball closest to the head rail. When Earl missed he ran 3 more and then did it again.
