Us Open Updates....

Yes. However, when the conditions get tougher, Orcullo usually comes out on top- such as 10 ball at the super tough table at Hard Times in Bellflower this past May.

Orcullo also beat SVB in their TAR match up.

SVB is a great player. Top 10 in the world in my opinion. However, I think Orcullo is the best 10 ball player in the world on challenging equipment

agreed. not to take anything from shane today, his performance and the number of tough shots he executed as phenomenal.

Results are all we have to go on here. These guys are so good that it comes down to a break or two where the balls stopped rolling etc. If there was a way to match these guys up at the perfect time where they were both in the zone and using a magic rack with a ref doing the racking I'd buy the ppv in a hurry. I don't doubt Shane's ability to play on tough equipment. I watched him on the 10 foot diamond with 4 1/4" pockets and he played pretty darn well. I think it all comes down to who's hot that day or who gets the extra roll or two.

USA, ALL THE WAY.

Shane is best, no matter what you say.

USA, ALL THE WAY.

Shane is the best, and that is every day.

USA, ALL THE WAY.

Shane is the best, hip, hip, hooray!

Wow, what a thread this became once it got some legs.... It really took off...

I want to thank to everyone that made this happen.... We might've missed the open but this thread made me fel like I was there...

Cheers to everyone that contributed...

Let's do it again next year...

Congrats to SVB!!!

What a clininc this young man put on.... He was definitely in a league of his own this week... I liked his chances after sending my fav (Alcano) this year to B-side hill-hill... SVB was trailing that set 6-3 and Alcano also beat him to the hill, remember??

Who would've thought that the US Open title would stay right here this
year???

I gave us a slim to none chance after scanning over brackets... This was without a doubt the most powerful international field in US Open history...

I guess this is as good a place as any to interject what Earl was harping about during his final match.

Earl SERIOUSLY wants to remove the side pockets from the game of 9 ball. He said it makes the game to easy. Earl is so wacky I really feel sorry for him - I mean the guy is out of his mind. All in all his comments were funny as hell. After his comment to the crowd about removing the side pockets, he got out of position and had to cut the hell out of the ball in the side pocket. Before he shot, a fan asked him what he would do now (without the side pocket). Earl fired back: "I would play the ball in the corner you idiot." The crowd broke loose with the loudest laughter at the US Open.

My friends went up on the elevator with him after his final match and he was still talking about removing the side pockets.

That was a good read.

Thinking about it a bit more........maybe Earl isn't too far off with this idea. It would make for a very interesting game on the professional level.

Maniac (absolutely MUST have side pockets for his games )

Not 4 1/4" pockets, they were 4 7/16''s, just a little on the tight side of ProCut 4 1/2'';)

Can someone tel me how many tables there were in use.

Thanks

I got there Thursday. There were 2 in the TV room, 4 in another and 6 in another (plus 2 in a practice room). On Friday they tore down the 4 room and the 2 practice room. I never went to the "6 room" after Friday, just the TV room though.
