US Open

Wouldn't it be great if Jasmin just pulled out a dildo!!

But it is not about that anymore! Jasmin is forced to play a qualifier for the Womens Us Open! I do not see the need for that and I really do not think Allison, Jeannete, Karen, Kelly or any other top women player have to do that. That is throwing away money... because we all know that she will qualifie anyway! I really would love to hear a your opinion about this.... because for... well i just do not get it!! It is almost like they do not want her over there!! And that can't be true because she has a lott of fans in the US. So what's the deal then i would think!!???

You should just walk right up and hit Barry with your purse then, Lucy.

I could have figured that you would use some kind of ignorant and bigoted insult to cap off your sexist opinion.

How's it feel to get SHOT DOWN? Don't worry though, you still have the luxury of being able to play in the US Open no matter how small your penis is and how weak your game is.

Have a nice day :-)

Everyone who is not a touring pro has to qualify. Kelly Fisher and Karen Corr had to go through the qualifiers. Xiao Ting Pan has to qualify. The WPBA makes no exceptions anymore. Allison got in through invitations and everyone after her had to go through the process.

Jasmin does not live over here and she is not a full time touring pro with the WPBA, so yes, she dang well should have to qualify if that's the WPBA's rules. Want to know a quick way to lose fans? Start giving her preferential treatment. Want to be a part of something? Got to play by the rules.... it's not fair to anyone else if you don't.

If nothing over here suits Jasmin (the "mens" us open, the rules about qualifying for the women's us open) why bother with playing here? Sounds to me like nothing here pleases her/you so why even bother with the states? She's a good player but so are some others that came over from a different country.... Bottom line, they had to play by the rules and so does Jasmin.

THE FOLLOWING IS A GENERAL OBSERVATION NOT MEANT TO BE A DIRECT LINK TO THE US OPEN.
Institutions which are men only give us the opportunity to act like men(Crude and obnoxious!), without fear of repercussion (lawsuit over a dirty joke). Otherwise we will all end up wimpy little metrosexual men.

It's not that I don't believe they can compete. I just believe that it is his perogative to set the limits for a privately operated event.

Perhaps you are too young to understand that all men don't have the same mindset as you imply in your "general observation". Not only that, but having respect for women does not make you a "wimpy little metrosexual man" either! Some day, if you keep an open mind, and educate yourself, you may learn this.

Secondly, Barry certainly has the right to run his tournament any damn way he pleases. However, imo, it should not be called the U.S. "OPEN", as it clearly is not open to anyone, even if they have the entry and want to play.
I agree with John's points that attendance would increase, and more women would participate, given the opportunity to compete with the men. I think you'll see more women each year in the DCC, as well.

Then it was a stupid deal for both of them. The WPBA gave up one of the golden opportunities for their players to compete against the best players in the world and Barry gave up the opportunity to have the spectator draw of gender competition.
I agree that it was a stupid move. I wish I knew more about the negotiations that went on and what each side wanted and what each side offered. I have a feeling that the WPBA is not as innocent in this as you seem to be assuming.

Knowing Barry though I still say that it was a sexist power play on his part. He could have given the WPBA the Women's US Open and still allowed the women to play in his US Open.

And, I will bet that the WPBA wouldn't mind at all if Barry did allow women to play in the US Open right now.

John, I don't understand how you think this was a power play by Barry. Barry is far from perfect, but he is a good business man and I have to assume he gave up the rights to include women in the U.S. Open for a good reason, whatever it was. However, he may have overestimated how good the reason was. He may be regretting that decision now.

IIRC, the WPBA has some history in protecting where their players compete. Contrary to you, I believe it may have been the WPBA that requested that the ladies not compete in Barry's "Open".

That's the way I heard it too.

Ok, am I being a jackass or perhaps having a "blonde" moment by thinking that "Open" meant no handicaps and not literally "open" to every Tom, Dick, and Jane??? (why do I feel that I'll have a resounding answer to this?)

Sorry I'm al little surprised by your reaction!!! Where did you read that this is Jasmins way of thinking! Isn't it my name at the topic. I do not speak for her.... but for myself. And for the thirth time..... I didn't start the conversation to make a buzz over the mens open it just turned out that way!! It just happened....... because over somebody's reaction! I allready said a few times that this is not the issue but the womens things is the issue.
I can undertsand what you are saying, but isn't it a little overdone to react like she is the one writing all of this as if she doesn't agree with the rules over there with you. It is just me who does not understand the way it works... does not understand in the meaning that with us she allready is a star like Allison is with you guys ( here Allison is as well). I know she doesn't has the same winnings as Allison under her belt. But doesn't mean being a 4 time European Champion, World Games winner, second at Worldchampionships, Bca Open winner, 5th at the World championships 14.1 for men, anything to you. Is it that strange that i would think she would get an invitation for the US open women???? Why do you act like i'm comming at you with a sword! Please do not take it out on her, she not the cause that has opened this thread! Thank you for understanding.

It is because of my respect for women that I watch my language and demeanor around them. Sometimes I want to drink and smoke and curse and belch freely. That's why I believe in the necessity of a "mens club"

I urge women to attend and enter the DCC. It's only good for the sport. But that is up to the folks running the show, as it should be.

After awhile it's feels like you're speaking for her.

Beating Allison at the BCA doesn't mean she gets invited to everything in the states. Is it that strange that i would think she would get an invitation for the US open women???? I act like this because I'm sick of people expecting things to be handed to them simply because of who they are. Jasmin has a wonderful game and a great future in the sport. She has accomplished a lot at a young age. None of this changes the fact that she still has to play by the rules and qualify like everyone else. Once she earns a tour card on the WPBA then she will not have to qualify.

The following quote is what prompted my response....

"Jasmin is forced to play a qualifier for the women's US Open!" The way that came across to me was that you think this is the most absurd thing you've ever heard and that it's a terrible injustice. If "we all know she will qualify" then what is the big deal? Insinuating that she's being made to qualify because "they do not want her over there" annoyed me as much as anything.

In the end, my reaction is due to you coming across as whining about Jasmin having to play by the rules and that she's not being handed everything on a silver platter because they don't want her over here. She's a great pool player, she's young, she's attractive, and she's very marketable. Of course they want her over here. She's good for the game and the image of the WPBA.... but she still has to earn her spot like everyone else.

Just don't do it when the Love geyser is around she'll catch it ALL on film and blackmail you forever! :D :D

Excuse for the fact that English is not my mothers language! I did not mean to come on that strong as it sounded. I wanna quit quote que qoute now.... because things are gowing the wrong way. And that's is not what my intention was while i started this threath!

You might not've meant to come on as strong as it came across but you still think that she shouldn't have to go through the qualifying process that everyone else does. I still feel that she does.

There's no need to get frazzled over the way that I took your posts and ask that the discussion end. All you have to do if you notice someone has misunderstood you is do as you just did... clarify.

I can appreciate you wanting a person that you're friends with to be able to play in big events here like the women's us open. It's natural to want the best for your friend. There are some people here that are friends/fans of Jeanette Lee's and they want her on the IPT. Just as I think Jasmin would be a welcome addition to the WPBA, I also think Jeanette would be a welcome addition to the IPT. However, I think they should both earn their places and get there the same way everyone else did, not have them handed to them just because of their name. JMO. ;)

However, by looking at Jasmin's webpage www.jasmin-ouschan.com, you can all see that she is supposed to play two tournaments in the states in September, meaning that she will try to qualify for the Womens US Open and another tournament.

So... Guess this is end of discussion, since Jasmin already knows what to do? ;)
