The only qualifications are that you give the tourney director 500 U. S. dollars and that you were born with a penis. I don't think Ms. Ouschan will qualify. At least I hope not.

That sucks.........!!! How can you compete with the men of you're not allowed playing them!
Well in the past. Local pool rooms have sectional qualifiers for the event. That is the best way to know where your game is at. Normal entry fee is 60-75 dollars. If you win then you get to go free of charge. That is the best way to do it.

The Dates are September 25 – October 1, 2006. This event will be held again at the beautiful Chesapeake Conference Center, in Chesapeake Virginia.
The U.S.Open is The Longest Run and Most Pretigious 9-Ball Event in the world. The field is limited to 256 Players. Entry is $500.00, Added Monies is either $50,000.00 or $72,000.00 with full field of 256.
Beginning April 1, 2006, We will start accepting entries. The U.S.Open Entry is $500.00 USD.
After September 1st, 2006 Entry is $550.00, NO EXCEPTIONS. "Online" Event Entry cut off Date is September 17th unless Full.

This is all of the information I could find about playing in the US Open. I go to the US Open every year and i'd love to see Jasmin Ouschan play. I don't see any reason why she can't play in the tournament if it's a true Open tournament. Just put up your entry fee and play!

Cuz Barry Behrman is sexist and discriminatory. A quadrapeligic male with $500 can get into the US Open while a woman can not. Not vey open now is it?
The women could probably sue for inclusion and probably win but why bother? They probably wouldn't get paid anyway.

Just as I am not allowed to play in a C-player tournament and Pros are not allowed to play in the BCA Nationals and an able bodied person is not allowed to play in the Wheelchair Tour. There are several levels of competition in which the people allowed to play in them should be allowed to go up in class whenever they feel froggy but the ones who are in the upper class should not be allowed to rob the lower classes.
We all know that the women are weaker players than the men in general. This is simply because there are easily ten times more men playing overall then women, maybe 20 times more. It is perfectly okay for the women to have a division of their own to determine the best of their class. Just as it is perfectly okay for local players to have a "no pros" tournament series to determine the best of their class. If the best woman or the best amateur in Charlotte wants to go up against the best players in the world then they should be able to. There should be no restriction just because they also participate in other competitons that are restricted
The US Open is a farce when they use the name "Open" and don't allow women to play. Even the WPBA Open is not really "Open" as it only allows touring pros and ladies who qualify. The WPBA Open should be truly open up to 128 players - any lady who wants to play should be able to get in with just an entry fee.

The WPBA involves a tour for a special category of player which does not allow players with an advantage (real or perceived) to enter. The same is true for Junior championships (players who have had the opportunity for more experience are not allowed) and Senior championships (players who have more stamina and whose bodies have not begun to fail(eyes,arthritis,etc.) are not allowed).
The US Open does not allow people (in this case women) who do not have any perceived advantage to enter and yet it claims to crown the best player as it's champion.
If you can come up with some sport where women have a natural advantage over men then I would support a championship for men only wholeheartedly.
If women are allowed to play in the Men's US Open, then the men should be allowed to play in the Women's US Open.

If the women can play in mens events the men should be able to play in the womens. If that happenes then there's no point seperating them just have an open tour like I originally suggested. IMO there is no excuse why the women can't be as good as the men.
thats no it at all. this is a double standard. if we want women in mens events how come men dont play in womens events? thats because they are women events and if they have their own tours and tourneys we should have our own. they have a u.s. open of their own! you dont see efren and archer whining about not gettin to play in the female version. women are AWESOME players and can hold their own with anyone but if they want in, so do we. not very open you say, neither is theirs is it?!onepocketchump said:

It is not a double-standard since there is a logical reason why men shouldn't be allowed in the Women's US Open(they would win this year and every year in the near future so it wouldn't be much of a Women's Open) but there is no logical reason for women not to be in the US Open.
If you go to the US Open website it does not say that it is the Men's US Open. If they start to call it the Men's US Open then you might have a point.
