USA, all the way?

For the record, we're not all so excitable about this. I think a size 3 font in a sedate blue would have been perfectly adequate.

I agree, Mr. Patrick.

MADE in the USA, all the way, baby!

That does have a nice look to it! Well done!

There, I've fixed it for you.

I'm glad not all Brits are like you. I guess every nationality has there fair share of people like you. I think sometimes we have more than our share on this side of the pond.

But you still haven't answered my question asked in a previous reply ...

"So, what has your enlightened superior British intellect came up with to revive pool in the US. What broadening idea shall we embrace?"

A response is needed.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Edit; I just wanted to let you know that there is a British pool forum open now. They have only 7 active members in the last 24 hours but I am sure they would welcome you. PM me and I will send you a link.

For a start, lingerie football is getting a strong reaction.
Maybe lingerie pool is what is needed.

No it isn't, obviously, but I'll give you one anyway: I don't know, hence the thread.

Although the answer lies within your country, I will venture one thing that will help pool in America - learn to cue straight. Treat all existing instruction manuals as historical artifacts, and start again from scratch. Learn how other nations do it.

But it is up to you. Whilst you don't accept there's a problem, there will never be a solution. I liken the situation you're in over there to the mess English football is in over here. For decades we've thought we're the best footballing nation on earth, despite the fact we haven't won a World or Euro cup since 1966, and have rarely looked close to winning a major championship since, but there's an in-built superiority in our attitude to the game. We invented the bloody thing, so we should win the bloody thing! We did nothing to address the root causes of our inadequacy, preferring instead to repeat what we've doing from year dot, in the expectation that our luck would change, and trophies would be rightfully ours again. Meanwhile, other countries in a similar position, such as France & Spain, took a longer term view and implemented structured, SYSTEMIC changes to the way they approached the game. Both are World and European Champions, whilst the English are still stuck in the 1960s, suffering the usual embarrassing defeats of yesteryear. Quite simply, we have failed to modernise, and have refused to take our medicine. Nothing will ever improve until we do. Even now, the old guard within the English Football Association is resistant to change, preferring instead to keep their own power bases and personal fiefdoms. Change is IMMENSELY difficult to instigate, and MUST come from the grassroots. Whilst there is no call for it from the likes of AZB, it will never come.

The link provides some background, which you may or may not find interesting.

So, my proposition remains: America either changes to compete with the rest of the world, or it continues its long, slow descent into the sewer.

Wow, you have to let it go......

I know this will come as a big disappointment to you guys, but no Brit has ANY interest in how your nation was founded, nor any knowledge of it. We simply don't care what happened 3000 miles away, hundreds of years ago. I had no idea we'd even had a bit of a biff up until I ventured into NPR. Seems you are immensely proud over something we have no interest in.

I wonder who Thaiger is pissing off more - the Brits or the Yanks? Seems like a close call to me ...

There have been multiple threads on this forum as the whys and hows of improving US pool. So I don't know where you get that from. I would also like to know why you think we dont cue straight. Why don't you post a video of your superior skill for all of us to witness? Show us how you do it, talk is cheap, especially yours.

As far as the british football is concerned, take it to the NPR.

And for this statement---Treat all existing instruction manuals as historical artifacts, and start again from scratch. Learn how other nations do it.
It makes me wonder what it is that you are doing that is superior to what I am doing. So, please, post a video of your handy work so we can see whats its like to have your skill. If you have a better way for me to play by all means show me, I have no problems with learning a better way to do things.
The thing is, I don't think you have a better way. I think you like to talk like you know something and act pompous towards others on here, but I bet the truth is your game is as weak as your outlook on life.

Maybe you'd ought to show some interest. Without us you'd probably be goosestepping around, jabbering in German.

I accept that pool in the US could be better, I never said otherwise.

You say that we have crooked strokes here in the USA, so show me the right way.
It's not polite to say a whole country is doing it wrong and not be willing to show them the right way. Go to youtube (which incidentally was created here in the US) make a video and post it here so we can learn from you.

Quite why everyone on here drags debates into 'my dad's bigger than your dad' territory is beyond me, but if you want to see how I cue, just Youtube some of the snooker world championships. That's how we ALL cue.

You know YouTube, that thing on the internet (which, incidentally, was created here in the UK).
