This will be a doozie!

I like Gorst in this spot.

Gorst has the better break and pockets better. I'd call position play about even. Justin has a significant edge in all tactical aspects of the game, but I don't think that will be enough to tip the scales in his favor. Gorst's edge in the breaking department will be a little less as they are playing nine ball rather than ten ball, but it's still an edge. Finally, Gorst has lots of experience in "nine on the spot with the three point requirement" rules. Finally, it's hard to pick against Gorst after his merciless demolition of DeLuna. Fedor is a man in stroke right now.

Good luck to both of these fine players.

This is super tough action for Justin and he knows it.

These breaking rules pretty much evens out the break advantage from either player and that is what Justin wants imo

Justin in my opinion runs the balls after the break as good as player on the planet.

Should be a really interesting match to sweat.

I believe you nailed it. I have to say I’d like to see Justin pull it off.

The Iceberg definitely has his hands full. But, on that same token so does Gorst now. I imagine whoever catches the gear first and longest will pull this off and it won't be easy for either of them! I like Gorst a lot but hat's off to Justin for stepping up, now bring home the win, sir!

Some of the online chatter about some of the high stakes action on this match has said Fedor is a 10 game favorite.

Justin has some high powered money behind him

I am not that familiar with the 3 point break rule. I looked it up but can someone clarify? 3 balls must be pocketed or 3 balls cross the headstring and no push out right?

On the break, total balls pocketed + balls crossing headstring >= 3

This is the matchup between two world-class well known professional pool players. Why this thread is billed as USA vs Russia seems a little unnecessary, in my opinion.

Fedor is a huge favorite here.

SJM had a good recap. I still think Fedor has a breaking edge. I'm sure JB is going to be practicing his 9 on the spot break and will close the gap (it will be less than if it was 10 ball), but Fedor has a ton of experience with this break and his striking is very strong. Also, I expect he has more positive feelings about the break and will be looking at it as an edge rather than damage to control which JB might. So slight breaking edge to Fedor.

JB may move well, but Fedor is the best jumper in the world. He has made that into such a huge weapon I would call it a push at best on the moving game.

In the end the big difference is confidence and timing. Fedor is not only in contention to be considered the best player in the world, he is just hitting his peak and has a ton of momentum, confidence, belief, and determination. I have to give him a striking and run out edge for those reasons as well.

Bottom line I love JB's game, and if the break were absolutely neutralized by slow cloth and 4" pockets where it became a grind-fest than he could take it. But with 4.5" pockets and a magic rack I just can't see him out running Fedor here. This isn't a shot at JB, I would bet Fedor over alll but a very, very, very select few. If any.

I will be found in the action room on this one. I don't want to give up big game spots but I will certainly consider some money odds here. PM me if you want Justin or I'll start a thread shortly.

Carl is so cool, he'll add 100k w.10 games. Some of those Russians will make Carl's nose bleed when he can't match the amounts they can put up.
10 games sounds like bargain considering Gorst thrashed de luna 100-67 (%wise even bigger than SVB thrashing Orcullo 120-85) and de luna is about same Fargo as Justin :D
