Looks like Tony (suprise!!) is not going to do anything. CSI has teamed up with Bob Beaulieu to bring big tables back to Reno!!

WorldPPA Joins US Bar Table Championships
CueSports International (CSI) and Bob Beaulieu, owner of the WorldPPA organization, are proud to announce the WorldPPA Reno Shootout. The WorldPPA event will be held in conjunction with the CSI 19th US Bar Table Championships at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino, Reno, Nevada. The date for the US Bar Table Championships is February 12-19 and the WorldPPA will take place February 17-19.
The move to the Grand Sierra afforded CSI four times the tournament space than was previously available and the ability to provide more choices for players, such as with the WorldPPA event.
The WorldPPA was established in 2007. Its purpose is to promote billiards, introduce new players to the sport and to organize handicapped tournaments to allow players of all skill levels the opportunity to enjoy competitive play.
While the two events will be held side by side, the WorldPPA will take place on Diamond 9’ tables and be a 9-Ball handicapped event based on the WorldPPA handicap system. Long considered the premier bar table event in the United States, the $25,250 added US Bar Table Championships is a seven day multi-event tournament held on 7’ Diamond tables and attracts players from across the globe.
The event is open to all players. Bad Boys Billiard Productions will direct both events using the CueSports Tournament System (www.ctsondemand.com). CSI will be processing the entries for both the US Bar Table Championships and the WorldPPA Reno Shootout. Players in the Reno Shootout who are not already members of the WorldPPA or have a WorldPPA handicap will be evaluated and assigned a handicap by the WorldPPA organization.
Registration for both the 19th US Bar Table Championships and the WorldPPA Reno Shootout are available online at the CSI CueSports Tournament System (www.ctsondemand.com). You may also enter by submitting your completed entry form via mail or fax to the CSI office. CSI is dedicated to creating more choices for all players. In the past seven years CSI has directly paid out approximately Seven Million Dollars to players. What a great turn of events. All the previous USPPA members have really missed going to Reno for a major event. Great collabaoration(sp). Thanks Mark and Bob for such great dedication to our sport.

Yes. Not a great one, but with that many pool players there you should have a few games going. The Peppermill and Atlantis are not too far away, and they both have nice rooms.

Seems to me the Peppermill and Atlantis is maybe at least a couple miles away. Isn't the Grand Sierra the one close to the Reno Airport?

It's the one that is due east of the Silver Legacy. It was originally the Hilton and sits all by itself. It's a huge casino/hotel! I've always liked it there. And yes, it is a ways from Atlantis and the Pepper Mill. It's closer to the the other casinos; Silver Legacy, Eldorado, Circus Circus, etc.

They used to have a great race book. That is where the real easy $$ is. RA and I will be there with handicapping tips. :thumbup:

We think this will be areally good event. The venue is first class.
The rooms are $39 and $49!!
Lots to do with a 50 lane bowling alley and 20 or so restaurants and bars.
We also will have 16 of the 9' diamond table set up Monday thru Thursday (before the World PPA event starts) - and need a good idea for their use!
Maybe some one pocket or something? (cannot do a BCA points event because the world 8-ball is the same time as us.)

Another thing that's so nice about this hotel/casino is the size. It is so huge that you always feel like you have lots of room even when there are a lot of people there.

It's not far from the Atlantis or the Peppermill. If you have a car, you are in for a 5 minute drive. If you don't have a car, you should stop playing poker and buy a car

Reno tournament qualifications?
What will be the qualifications if any to play in this new Reno haddicap event? The USPPA required a certain number of tournaments to be played by the player to be qualified to play in Reno tournament event.
Those qualifications need to be posted early.

Associating with the USPPA is the last thing I would want to do. Besides the last tournament, the organization under Tony's influence was slowly imploding. I quit playing USPPA years ago because of the sand bagging that was never addressed. Your grasping at straws to say that because there are 9' tables in Reno there is a connection. Why not say pool balls will be used on Simonis cloth as in the Reno tournament? The only relevant information to the Players not getting paid is some secretive FYI. Is this a thread about the players NOT getting paid or a new tournament? I find piggy backing off the misery of the players not getting paid to self promote a new tournament questionable. Will your advertising say: Former USPPA players, NOW A TOURNAMENT IN RENO WHERE YOU CAN BE PAID? Let the WPPA tournament stand alone on its own merits. It already has a good reputation, don't tie it to something tainted. You answer will be seen by starting a thread with the new tournament as its headline, or not.:lol::lol::lol:
