Anybody eles having trouble with customs ? Got a cue coming from Canada it arrived in the US ISC Chicago IL on March 9 2010. How long does it that them to look at this stuff. The bad thing is I am in Calif. but going to be moving to VA on 4-5-2010. If it is not here by then it will get foward to my address in VA. How long have you waited for a cue to clear customs. :frown:
 
I've shipped a few cues to europe and customs has its own time zone. It always takes longer than you think it should. Sorry, but if it helps they all got there eventually. A week to 10 days is not uncommon.
 
I am unsure of USPS, but the last cue i received from Canada arrived at the ship to address in less than a week using UPS.

I've been tracking a package coming to me from China and it cleared customs in L.A. in about 24 and a half hours....

hey there remember the cue u bought from me? it cleared customs quickly. the trutg is if he shipped is xpresspost then it gets cleared faster. i know with usps express they clear it within 5 minutes. but when it gets shipped usps priority i've had it take as long as 2 days.

also, the tracking might not have updated. i know sometimes it actually clears but canadapost just holds on to it for a while before processing it. usps is probably the same.

So, if I want to send a cue to Asia and want it to arrive promptly, what method would be recommended? Taking the path of least resistance, aka least time in customs.
 
well if u ship it overseas u can really only do it with usps express international cuz the only other option is by boat lol.

This is less than accurate info.

You can ship USPS Priority or Express International, UPS Int'l or FedEx Int'l, even DHL is a viable option (if there's still an office in your city).

Also, to the OP, Customs has nothing to do with USPS. USPS merely provides the paperwork to Customs, who then decides whether an Inspection is called for. During this time, the package is in a secure warehouse and technically no longer in USPS possession, hence no updates. Most packages are cleared electronically, some get flagged for whatever reasons, some are randomly selected, others are pulled out cause the shippers name is Mohammed Ahmad-Aman :eek:

Any ivory in the cue?? Inlays, ferrules, anything?

u do not want to be using ups or fedex international unless its a high end cue or something. u'll understand why when u see the shipping cost.
 
I have never got a cue from Canada before. I cue is a Russ Espiritu that I won. I am not sure if it has Ivory or not and the guy I got it from is not sure. He does not think so. Is there anyway to contact US ISC in IL to find out about the cue. I only have about two more weeks before I start driving to VA. Thanks for all the info.

I would ship it Fedex if you want it there quickly. Butterflycues
 
I've had problems with Canada such as packages never arriving and very slow service. No problems To/From Europe. My shipments to and from Europe arrive much faster than from Canada.:confused:
