Valley Forge Billiards Expo AZ mini 8 ball tournament? Anyone from AZ interested in helping setup a mini 8 ball tournament at the Billiards expo?
This is my first time going and don't even know if this can be done or not at the expo after hours. Or maybe at a local pool room. It would be great to get to meet up with some of the AZ members.
I was thinking of doing a BCA rules 8 ball tournament, on 7 foot bar tables, race to 3 games double ellimination. I originally posted best 2 out of 3 but a race to 3 seems to be the way to go.

Race to 2??? Better make it a race to 3 at the very least.

after hours it could be done.. but in order to get into the room where they rent the tables out all night cost $10 per person...

and having it on the money tables would be out of a the question because come 800 at night or so.. you will not even be able to get near them.. each money table will have a crowd of people playing for 10$ and up.. and then there is hundreds of people just crowded around making sidebets and watching...

I like that idea. The last time I went two years ago when they began allowing access to the tourny tables for like $10 for the whole night (begining later in the evening), there were plenty of tables. It should be easy to get two, maybe three tables for a small tourny, and it doesn't need to be that organized.

I'm in

This will be my first year attending but If it can be done count me in!

Maybe we can set up a sign up sheet, and arrange for a place to meet at the EXpo with a set date and time. Since we wont recognize anyone from AZ.

Sounds Great! Count me in...

This really sounds like a great idea. I would love to play in a little 8-Ball mini-tournament among the AZB'rs....maybe just $20 entry fee or something small like that.......would prefer the race be at least to 3..........:)

I would like to play. My booth is on the lower level near the practice area if you need a place for a sign up sheet or info on time and what table ect... Chris.

Not sure what an open player is, but anyone can play as far as I'm concerned. Will gather a list of names from everyone who wants to play. I will see if I can setup a sign up sheet at one of the vendor booths, where we can all meet at.

Be There or Be Square!

At the risk of chasing off other players, I will join the festivities!:D
If ya want some of my action, be there!
Purdman:rolleyes:

This information just in ..........

I just wanted to follow up with you on the meeting room you wanted to rent for the AZ Billiards during the Super Billiards Expo. I have spoken with Allen Hopkins and at this time, the event you are looking to hold, would be a conflict to his event. If you would like to rent a booth and attend the show in this manner, Allen suggested that you call him to make the arrangements. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to call me.

Thank you

...

As I recall, last year Timberly and Eydie tried to get something going, but the only room they could get would be way, way down the infamous corridor and it would have been quite expensive. They concluded people wouldn't pony up the $$$ because it was too far removed from the general activities.

However, if some enterprising person can put this mini-tournament together, I'll be glad to get knocked out of it shortly after getting knocked out of the Seniors tournament. :)

How bout just an AZ get together ?

Did not realize this was a conflict to Allens event, so the mini tournament
is off. I was not looking to rent a room? I was looking to get everyone together to play on the tables when they openned up after the tournaments. Or to do it at a local pool hall, which would probably not be a conflict, but I would not consider now out of respect to Allen and Dawns event.

Why can't we just get together to shoot some pool which would be alot easier to pull off. We would just need to setup a time and a meeting place. I don't think this will be a conflict at all.

Maybe we can get Allen and Dawn to join us for a couple of racks if there not too busy :)

Open to all suggestions :D

Would the mini tournament be the conflict? Or is that referring to renting a meeting room for tables for az'ers? I was thinking we gather some az people and go to the practice room. We all will be paying $10 to get in too play and we can have an informal tournament between friends. I was offering my booth as a place for people to stop by and get details about when and where we would all meet and start playing. I don't want to step on allens toes but I diddent think friends meeting to play together would be an issue. Chris.

i think thats what it means.. i dont think it has anything to do with the tournament..
and i think the reason they had to run it by Allan is because i think when he rents the expo space.. he pretty much gets the whole scanticon and rooms and all..

i still think the mini tournament is a great idea if we can pull it off..

Whether we have a tournament or not. I would still like to get and meet some other AZ members to shoot pool with. We can setup a meeting date and time at Chris Byrne's booth prior to the event. If there is not any tables available to shoot on at the Expo. I'm sure there are local pool halls we can go to. I will have a rental car for transportation. I am sure we can setup a carpool if needed.
I am arriving Wednesday afternoon to play in the Pro-Am on Wednesday evening and will be leaving on Monday. I also will be playing in the Amateur 9 ball tournament, and sent payment for VIP seating for the semi and final pro tournament.
