Anybody who's at the Expo mind giving a weather update sometime later tonight? I'm planning to drive up from DC tomorrow and it doesn't sound good. Been raining here all day and just begun to sleet in the last hour

I'm dying to go but I-95 in a snow or ice storm just ain't fun.

I just woke up looked outside and it is snowing pretty good. Not sure how much that helps, but the local weather people are acting like it could get a little hairy around Philly in the next few days.

We just got back from the Expo and our normal 1/2 hour ride took 1-1/2 hours. The plows are out and the highways are in ok shape. Leave a lot of time......but the ride will be worth it.

well there is about 3 inches of slush/sleet/ice piled up where i live. I live about 15 minutes from the expo.

It has been sleeting ALL DAY LONG, and from what i understand, it's supposed to sleet all night.

I can't imagine what the expo parking lot must look like. It's probably a disaster.

I am in Vineland about 45 mins east of the expo, decided not to risk it today and drive home late tonite in it. I have other things to do here tommorow so looks like Sunday will be my only day there.

Update

I left about 30 minutes ago. IMy hotel is five minutes from the Expo. I didn't have much of a problem but I have a 4 wheel drive Jeep with new tires. The expo lot is pretty bad and the raods arn't getting any better. It is still ice balling out there. I am very lucky in that there is a Kobe Japanese Steak House down stairs with a Sushie bar.:D Hot dang!!!!!!!
Honestly, if you arn't close, please stay home. It's not worth killing yourself for.

Have a tall cool one for me, Purd! Or maybe a hot, tiny one? Sake, you fools! Get your minds from the gutter!!

8pm and it's still sleeting!

This kind of reminds me of the TRUMP 10-ball Challenge years ago when the Blizzard snowed us in at the casino.
That was a pretty bad roll. i think about half the players that were supposed to come, couldn't make it cause a state of emergency was declared, and airports were closed down.

At least, for this one, all the players that were in it arrived before the bad weather hit.

Now i have to decide if i want to wander out into the arctic tundra tonight.

That is exactly what I am going to do buddy. The short hot one! ;) That's a lot better than the 4 tall Icibans (sp) I use to have. The big ones with the dragon on the lable. I have gone fron 268 to 227 in 8 months. I got about 20 more to go.
I will toast you tonight Walter!:D

P.S.

I hope all my friends made it down there O.K.

May their hunting be fruitful:cool:

I'm staying at the homestead. 5min up the road from the expo. The weather today was the worst! I'm not sure how the highway is right now, but the roadways really don't have much work done on them. The parking lot was a show for sure! There were at least 2 fights and arguments on ppl trying to pull out and sliding right in the car next to them. Of course it doesn't help that the parking lot is a big hill either. There were even announcements of ppl trying to contact the person parked next to them to pull out or risk getting a car slid into them if moved any further, it was nutz! Had to chizel ice (at least 3 times) off my windows which sux! My advice? If you're really into coming down here, leave plenty of time. You might get lucky and really get a good deal due to the lack of people coming here this year. Therefore vendors will try to lower pricing to get rid of stuff. I personally think the turnout is lacking due to this wonderful hurricane weather this year. Good luck!

Damn! I would like to get toasted rrRoasted;)

Just got back from the expo about 15 min ago. I am about a mile away and it was no problem. But it took me 5-6 hours to get their from Baltimore!! I would definately wait until the sun comes up tomorrow (if that happens...probably not).

Long story short-Sleet and ice-freezing up in minutes- i was lucky to get out of the VFCC parking lot.

Dont even think of parking on the hill til further notice.

Thanks everyone for responding. I'm going to stay put today due to the weather and the fact my friend won't make it either.

Loong Drive

We flew into Philly Wensday evening and it was nice like 70 at 11pm, well that all changed by Thursday evening. We were suppose to fly back out Friday at 8 pm well we all know that wasn't gonna happen. NWA cancelled our flight by noon and said they could not get us out till Sunday at 8pm, since it was weather related they could not help with hotel or anything of that nature. We had a rental car so there was only one thing to do and that was pack it up and roll out! The normal 9 hour drive to Detroit Metro Airport turned into a torturest 12-1/2 hour drive!! The first 100 miles on the turnpike the fastest we ended up going was 30 mph!! Thank goodness by the time we hit Pittsburgh we were able to do 55, and by the time we hit Ohio we could do the normal speed of 65. ( even though i was doing 75 by this time):D. The weather sucked but the expo was great we will definatly be back next year rain or shine or SLEET for that matter.
