Value Check...Fellini Sunburst Case?

Hi all,

I recently picked up a nice old Fellini case with the tooled sunburst pattern. It also has a name on it which is tooled in small letters on the top of the case. There are no significant dings, tears, etc. The seams are pretty tight. The interior is in good shape and the tag is intact.

I know that tooled Fellinis command a higher price than standards, and a couple of years ago, I would have known what to ask, but in this economy, what should it sell for (ballpark)?

Thanks to HEH and Cuesblues for responding on the Main Forum! I never know where to ask this kind of question. The folks that cruise this section seem to be the most knowledgeable about cues, cases, and the market, but I'm not actually selling the case yet. Rest assured, I do plan on selling it soon, though...:D

Looking forward to hearing your opinions. Thanks in advance!

Steve

Hi Guy,

I'll have the case in hand tomorrow, if all works according to plan. These pics are bad and I'll send you some better ones when I get it.

I saw this one on the Bay a few days ago. I was going to make a "buy-it now" offer until I noticed the lettering or initials on the case...so I decided against it. I figured if I was gonna keep it and house a cue it would be my initials or a famous pool player from back in the days.

Hard to say what that would bring because of the lettering/initials. I would imagine whatever you paid and then some to reap a profit. It would be valuable to someone that really...really wanted it despite the lettering.

Good Luck...

might be hard but might be worth finding another lid same color for this case.....would be hard but would also help value....s.s kay works out to be some great hustler of the day....anyway super nice pickup....i allways liked the startbust case....double dreedknot is still my favorite......and one day i will buy one when it comes up for sale......cgs on a great pickup....

Thanks to all for adding to this thread! I get the case today and will try to post up some better pics for those who asked.

If you decide to keep this, the 2nd lid idea is a great one! I can help with that if you decide to keep. If you decide to sell, hollar at me.

Thanks for the idea, Dean!

The case is in and is in much better shape than I was hoping for (isn't that nice for a change?). Here's a couple of pics after I wiped the dust off and put some leather conditioner on it. The interior is in great shape and the label is in good condition (couldn't tell from the initial pics). There are almost no blems on the case, except for a couple of little wear and rub marks and a few scratches.

I'll have it up for sale before too long. I will probably also be selling a sea turtle Fellini that is in excellent condition and an old Fellini brochure that has original pricing. It looks like Ann Gore, or somebody marked out old prices by hand and revised them. The reason I think Ann did it was that her maiden name (Ann Kelly) was also marked out and replaced with "Gore". There was also a note about the sea turtle style being discontinued.

Thanks to all and be on the lookout for the Fellini sale thread!

I sent everyone who asked the pricing on this case and my sea turtle Fellini via PM. If you have not received yours, please accept my apology and let me know where to send them...

Thanks!

Steve

I know of a $40K Balabushka with the original owners name in the butt, and it would still be $40K it it didn't have the name. $1200 for the Sunburst Fellini, name or no name.

Compared to many here on az, I am a smalltime collector of cues and cases.

I will say, though, from my perspective, having the original owner's name tooled into the case doesn't detract from its value.

Some may feel otherwise but as long as there are others who feel like I do, and just one of them has the means and desire to buy it, and in fact does buy it, then I'd say that settles the argument over value.

BTW, what a beautiful case.

G/L with your sale.

Best,
Brian kc

Both cases have been sold... Thanks for all that looked and I'm sorry I didn't have another one for the folks that PMd me a little too late...

Have a great week!
