Hello guys. I'm working on something and I am interested in a professional's opinion of what the value of a used Diamond table in 7' and 9' Coin-op and non coin op (Smart table; Professional and Pro-Am) be in say 2 years, 3 years and 5 years. I have represented that retail value of a used table after 5 years would be roughly 70% of the original value (with cloth etc).

Am I too high?

Thanks
Bob

Hi Bob,

In my experience, Diamond tables have a higher resale value than any other new table on the market. For example, if you purchased a new 9 ft Pro Am for $5500.00 and you had that table delivered and installed for $1300.00 your only depreciation would be the wear and tear on the simonis cloth, wear on the balls, and any scratches or marks on the body of the table. Dymondwood is almost impervious to showing wear. That table will typically bring $3995.00 used or 75% of it's new value. Freight, delivery, installation and wear and tear are the only real costs you are exposed on.

In 2010 a friend of mine bought a 7 ft pro am at the Billiards expo in Valley Forge PA for $3500.00. He played on that table for 5 years, same cloth, and we just delivered that table to it's new home. He sold that table for $3200.00. The new owner had to put a new cloth on for $400.00 plus delivery and installation. In this case the seller got back $90% of his original investment. That doesn't even account for the wear he put on the cloth. The best thing about it was, the table with a new cloth on it looked like a brand new table!

Diamond tables are not cheap to buy, but they are cheap to own. The fact that they play fantastic is just another perk.... By the way, the table sold in one day.

That's pretty amazing that he was able to limit his loss to only 10%. All things being equal, I would most definitely cough up the extra money for a new Diamond rather than paying a premium for a used one. Obviously as time goes on the used market should drop in price as there become more Diamonds out there. I would guess that if it were a used Red Label Diamond that it may not hold its value quite as well as a Blue Label.

Jay is 100% right, but not all sellers are all that smart.....sorry sellers:o I picked up 2 9ft ProAm blue label tables 2 years old, sold both delivered and set up for $5,000 each....cloth as is, but I'm not going into any details, and the buyers still saved quite a bit of money when compared to buying a new Diamond. I just missed out on buying 5 7ft Smart tables with the full size 7ft lights with each table....$2,500 for all 5:D pool room owner left them to the landlord....he wanted them gone! If I'd have picked them up, I'd have redone the rails to blue label, recovered the tables....and sold them with lights for $5,000 each right away!
