Well Christmas is around the corner and so here is a little contest for a set of the Legends Instructional series featuring Buddy hall and Nick Varner.

A little info on the set, each DVD is over 2hrs long and there are 4 DVDs to the set. 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 14.1 and One Pocket. Each DVD has a "tricks of the trade" section that shows some specialty shots. Also Nick and Buddy playing short sets against each other while talking through each shot. Some of the Legends favorite practice drills. In the 14.1 DVD Nick runs over 100 while talking through each shot and why the whole way through.

After shooting these DVDs both Nick and Buddy came away saying that they had picked something up and learned some things, so to me if these two Hall of Famers can learn something then I am sure there is omething to be learned for the rest of us. The set has a retail value of $100.00 and can be purchased as a set or individually for $29.99 at www.nickvarner.com or by calling direct
Tel: (270) 926-4248.

So here is the question, What city did Nick Varner win his last WPA World 9-Ball Championship? I will let this thread go for a while before shutting it down and drawing a winner from the correct answers. Good luck.,

Alicante, Spain 1999 (extra credit).

Thanks for the contest.

Dave
Extra credit??? lol. If someone was treally going for extra credit they would know the place, the year, the score of the finals and who it was against :) Good luck to ya Dave. I will be drawing names from the correct answers. I really don't know if you or Ken are even correct :)

It is alicante spain in 1999. Mr. Varner shot the lights out! Remember that tourney well!!

In 1999, Nick Won two World Titles. Early in the year, he won the World Bank Pool Championship in Louisville Kentucky. Nick closed out the year by winning the WPA World 9-Ball Championship in Alicante, Spain.

Alicante, Spain vs. Jeremy Jones.

December 5th-12th, 1999.

The tournament was broadcasted on ESPN, which made it the first professional 9-ball championship to be aired on television.

I sadly don't know the score right now.

Man, I wish I had known this - I would've asked Nick about it when I saw him sitting around between matches. :/

Alacante, Spain 1999. The year of 2 world champions in 9 ball the other being efren.

Alicante, Spain, in 1999.

Not sure how many packs of gum Nicky chomped on in the finals, but the over-under has got to be around four!
