I have had this cue for several months now and thought it was a good time to let Azers know what I think of this Varney Purpleheart Break/Jump cue.
Specs: 58 inches long, weighs 19.50 oz, approximately 14.40 MM laminated shaft. This cue is a little larger than a standard cue (at the tip, joint and butt). It has a very nice balance that makes it feel lighter than it really is. Most people feel it weighs 18.00 oz and they are very surprised when I tell them it weighs 19.50 oz. As you can see in the pictures its finish is excellent with no flaws that I could find anywhere. During the several months I have owned this cue I have bumped it a couple of times but I have yet to put a ding in the butt.

Breaking: This cue is an absolute solid hitting monster break cue. I have had several players break with it and they are also very impressed on how well it breaks. You can muster up as much speed as you can and this cue can handle it. I have broke with a lot of cues that seem to "crap out" at the higher breaking speeds but this cue has no limit for me. I can break at around 22-25 mph on a bar box and this cue can handle it with ease. I have had several other Open players want to borrow this cue for tournaments but I won't let it out of my sight.
Jumping: I will be the first to admit that I'm not the best jumper in the world. I have played mostly APA and very little tournaments in the last 10 years. I can jump over a full ball with this cue from about 4 1/2" behind the object ball. The jump handle is longer that most cues (46 3/4) but I like it because I can hold it more closely to a normal cue and my aim is much better. Using a "Dart stroke" with a bridge I can jump a full ball 3" away.
Overall: the Varney Break/Jump cue is the best Break/Jump cue I have owned. I have tried several other brands but this is the best one for me.
