Vegas in October?

I have no answer to your question, but interestingly, I am working on a project about conferences in Vegas, and the attendance of most conferences is down 25 percent in recent times.
Markets such as Vegas will be hurting due to these tough economic times. Higher gas prices and the recession we are currently in is the culprit, I'm afraid.
It will get worse before it gets better. I predict that this affects pool greatly. It is expensive for players to travel, and they must pick their tournaments and pool happenings wisely.
My brother just left Reno, and the person he was with dropped 6 dimes. The casino was reluctant to comp him a free breakfast buffet. Vegas is just as bad about comping. My, times have changed.

If a person wants lots of comps and spends lots of money (ex: your brothers travel buddy) , spend it at a local casino off the strip. For his 6K, he would have had rooms, food and entertainment for free. There is no dought in my mind that he spend his money in the most upscale, pricest casino in Reno.
The amateur events in Las Vegas happen in April, May, June and August. The month of October is when the US Open 9-ball is going on so I would be a little surprised if any pool organization put on a major tournament (pro or amateur) at the same time.
