can veneers be made and installed, with out the aid of recutting , seamless?
when I say seamless I mean no seams at all?
I am only talking about the center seam that everyone sees from mitering and stacking?
I think so

your thoughts?

Been done, with hardwood and plastic, no problem. Just fab a jig that allows you to machine each separate veneer and glue them up.

not a cuemaker, but i think you are talking about recuts. might wanna search for recuts in the ask the cue maker section. Or just try searching for recut on google. There is a website by a cuemaker who shows the process of recuts pic by pic, but i can't remember where it was.

yes, but how about with wood and ivory. I am not talking about cutting each veneer up separately then glueing.

I want to see seamless stackable style veneers with wood or ivory. nothing else.

I havent seen it yet.

You are describing what I described. Palmer did plastic stackable seamless veneers in the 60's, and many have done stackable seamless veneers in hardwoods since. I do not know if anyone has done Ivory, the thinner it gets the more fragile. You should try and show us the results.

Here's a photo of the veneers on my new South West, they are seemless,I thought they had gone to recut points when I first looked at it.

They're good, real good. SW uses stacked instead of mitered veneers. 6 of 1 and a 1/2 dozen of the other.

John Parker of Auerbach Custom Cues, in Tulsa OK. makes seamless veneers. Here is one picture of his very nice Pool Cues

Tascarella did one with Ivory and Ebony or Black Veneers. I don't remember if it was recuts or not.

The SW does have a seam, but you have to look really hard to see it. It's about as good as you can get.

Below is one of mine. I posted this one because there are double whites. The lighter the color, the harder it is to have an invisible seam. I still wouldn't call them seamless. There is a seam there and if you look hard enough, you will see it.

The only way you are going to have completely seamless is the way Dennis does his or by doing recuts. You may get them perfect most of the time, but every once in a while one will sneak up on you. Nothing in this world is perfect.

What are seamless veneers?

I am curious because when I think of two different materials placed next to each other there is always a line. Do you all mean no visible glue line when you use the term "seamless"

Here is my definition and the way I do them.

No seams means no miter or no stacked method. I have a jig for my mill that allows me to cut a v-shaped veneer instead of gluing separate pieces to get the v shape. There will always be a seam between the pieces used to create the colored veneers, just no seam at the tip of those pieces.
