Well I was busy checking to see the total count on the Venom Trickshots trailer to see if it would get to 1 million by Christmas....when I discovered a video posted to a Chinese website similar to youtube.... I opened it up to find a Full edited version of the Venom Trickshots DVD that included all the shots from the full version. I mentioned to Nathan who was beside me what I found and he asked how many views it had..... I had to do a double take when I noticed the #'s 3.4 Million Views, 2400 comments and 16,000 likes.....Oh yeah and it was only posted 17 days ago...... Crazy!!! Too bad we don't make any $$$ off of people watching the whole video for free.

It's getting about 10,000-50,000 views per hour now. Around 5 million in total over the numerous video sharing sites.

Meanwhile I've sold barely enough to break even. Damn you piracy!

Oh well, the exposure is better than nothing I guess.

FWIW in China the singing stars don't make their money off of CDs. Everyone knows that the songs they record will be pirated and CD sales will be dismal. Where they make their money is on the concerts and shows they do.

SO, the next move for you and Venom is to do the China tour because all the Chinese pool players will already know about Venom from the videos.

P.S. maybe a way to get revenue is also to charge for in-video advertising the way movies charge for product placement. You could do a sliding scale with an initial fee that's modest and increasing payments based on how many views you get worldwide. I have NO IDEA whether that would work, is already being done, how well it works or anything, it's just a thought.

there is actually something to this! Tour China/Japan :) Won't be selling stadiums but get on telly perhaps? Organize some clinics....

I know nothing about business, but I would risk taking a loan out for a piece of that China tour! Just sponsoring, maybe sell shares? The segment of that population who get into pool seem to be borderline fanatics. If even a percentage of them supported...? The key would be picking the right area(s) I guess.
No joke, It is all coming out of my a**. I have no clue about how many people, or how much it would cost Venom to do dates in China.
I just think with that kind of reaction - Jump On It!

Actually I was the first one to ever introduce the Venom trickshot videos into China.
I introduced the trailer and some of his videos on Youtube to a fan-made social website back in July and it get over 20k views in a month...after that all kinds of Venom videos pop out on my screens on various websites.

Amazed at how much ppl love pool and trickshots XD

Oh yea about piracy at least i paid for my own Venom DVD! Agreed ppl should pay for the whole contents.

Update.....

29 Days.... 5.1 million views. This bodes well for Florian's on going negotiations with a Chinese company for Sponsorship....lol

As far as I know the most views a pool related video has ever had on a site like You Tube or similar is 8.8 million (that video has been up for over 3 years)

unfortunately chinese traffic is dead traffic when it comes to monetizing it. Its been that way for 10 years +. So many parts of the world are really dead to content producers because the cultural bias towards pro piracy is so heavy. For the vast majority of these people, they have only known the internet where everything is for free. The idea of paying for content is so unusual they will never be converted over to a paying consumer unless there are some huge changes to the copyright laws and they are actually enforced in places like India/China/S Korea/Thailand etc. Its sad too bc those countries are wired like crazy, especially S Korea which probably has the fastest internet speed population in the world.

Actually, you should. I believe it's Google Adsense. You should make money--- you're driving traffic to online banner ads. LOTS of it, I might add.

Excellent idea! I hate that your getting screwed but this could be a way to turn it around and make some money off piracy! Good luck to you, wish ya the best.

Is singing a good comparison? I mean the trickshots are absolutely amazing on video, but does it work as a live routine?
