I don't think his cue hit the ball. I've seen breaks where the cue ball shoots back and then suddenly stops because it has a small amount of top spin on it. It's pretty common when you break the balls really flat with a lot of power.
Know what you're saying and you're probably right. I've watched it a couple of times now and while the overhead view could easily be deceptive, it sure looks like the cue could have been the culprit.
In any case, the vid is great... thanks for posting.
