Invitation to all: Please feel free to post any "review" (positive or negative) about Disc I of VEPS. Also feel free to openly discuss any of the content on the DVD, which is summarized here. I welcome any review, even from PJ!

Got my Basic Shots DVD and have watched it a couple of times, and can say that I think it's great. Good production quality, & a TON of good material. You said you thought it might contain too much material, but not in my opinion. It just means that you overdelivered, and I'm glad you did.

It may be too basic for an extremely advanced player, but really covers what it claims. I like the teaching style and the easy to understand explanations.

I consider myself a slightly better than average tavern athlete, & wondered if I would really get any benefit from the video. Well, after checking it out, I found there is a BUNCH of stuff I didn't know. A lot of stuff I already knew and used before, was explained so that I understood the "why" things worked.

I'm probably not as good a player as most on this forum, but would recommend this video to any of them. Even if they found it not advanced enough, it would make a great Christmas present for anyone they know who is not as skilled.

I'm really looking forward to the DVDs that will be coming later.

Thanks for the feedback.

Agreed. I think even advanced players can learn a thing or two from the first disc, but they already should know most of the stuff (even if only intuitively).

Me too!

I find this amazing that the thread on Video Encyclopedia of Pool by Dr Dave and Tom Ross is not on 1st page!
Dr. Dave must learn about self promotion.
There are other products promoted all over this forum and most of them of limited value.

I own many instructional DVD’s and this is without a doubt my favorite one, well that one and Mika Immonen’s DVD his stroke is poetry in motion.

Anyway, nobody will feel like they didn’t get their money’s worth, nobody.
Volume 1 is excellent and not just for beginners or intermediate players.
Volume 2 is simply outstanding! Even very, very strong players will find it useful.

BTW. There is nothing wrong with DR. Dave’s delivery of material.

The amount of information squeezed into the DVD’s is absolutely amazing!!!

GREAT JOB!

Negatives:
Shot 209 the labels are wrong, re. inside/outside English.
Copy protection didn’t like my DVD/HD recorder, had to hook up to a normal DVD player, no big deal.

IF YOU GUYS CAN SPEND 30$ BUY VOLUME 2 & I HAVE NO DOUBT YOU WILL BUY THE REST!!!!!!!!

Thank you Wolven! This was a very nice Christmas present. Tom and I appreciate the positive feedback.

Thank you for pointing this out. I've found a few small errors since the first two discs have been released, but I wasn't aware of this one.

Regards and Happy Holidays,
Dave

Dave

You welcome Dr. Dave! The amount of hard work that went into this DVD is truly impressive.
The quality of production and the information captured is simply outstanding.
The addition of slow motion to a few shots is a very nice touch.

Just for the record I don’t know Dr.Dave or Tom Ross and have nothing to gain from my praises.
I just wanted to give credit where credit is due.
I truly believe that everyone could benefit from this Encyclopedia.

I can’t way to see the rest!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!!!

I bought disc #2 after seeing the trailer. I'm sure I'll learn something new and find out why shots work that I already have mastered. I find when you find out why a certain shot works you spot more shots like or close to the one taught. Dr. Dave has given away $1000's in free advice on here, in magazines, on his web site, and I want to support that also. Johnnyt

Thanks Johnny. Please let us know what you think after you view Disc II. We've gotten lots of good feedback concerning Disc I, but we haven't heard much about Disc II yet.

Happy Holidays,
Dave

Dave, I just recieved my copy of both Disk 1 and Disk 2 out of your series as a X-mas gift. Watched both of them, and think they are wonderful. Alot of information, but that is why we have a stop/pause/rewind/etc. button on our machines. My wife purchased your entire set, all 5 disks. I was just wondering when you anticipate those to be available, and when so, since she has already paid in ful via paypal, will they be automatically sent to your home? Thank you, and keep up the good work!

I'm glad you like your Christmas present! The expected release dates for the remaining discs are listed here:

The discs will go out to the people who ordered the set (at the same address as the original order) as soon as they are available.

Also, FYI, I'll post an update message on this thread, with example clips, as soon as I finish each disc.

Regards,
Dave

Four words: "I LOVE THIS VIDEO" (I counted a few times to make sure it was four :D).

I have an instructional book/video problem... I like to buy them. But if I actually read or watched my entire collection, I probably would never have time to actually play. So after buying this puppy, I decided to actually give it a whirl, and boy am I glad I did.

I find a lot of instructional tools will either explain the topic or show you the application. This often leaves me scratching my head and hunting down my more knowledgeable buddies for answers. This video does an excellent job of covering both. So thank you for not making my head itch.

I just bought the second disc and I plan on getting the rest of the series. I am very excited! I especially want to see the double hit section in Disc V, the bank section on Disc IV, and any english aiming tips on Disc II.

Debbie,

Thanks for the message. Sorry for the delayed response. I've been out of the country the last two weeks (vacation in New Zealand ... awesome trip!). I'm glad you like our stuff. I look forward to seeing Disc V also. The project is starting to wear me out a little, with all of my other commitments.

I hope you like Discs II-V as much as you like Disc I.

Regards,
Dave

Dave, the videos look great!! I first picked up your book about 2 months ago after reading a lot of the information and watching a lot of the slow motion videos on your web site. I think I will wait until all 5 DVD's are ready and get the whole package. April you think?

I just revised the expected release dates today, because I am running a little behind schedule on Disc III. Disc V should be done in May. FYI, you can preorder the 5-disc set two different ways (shipped as each is released, or shipped together at a lower price).

Dave

the trailor looks great. i may order a disc to check it out. as far as price goes, most people i know wouldn't pay over $100 for something like this.

Your the first person that has told me we are charging too much ($30 per disc, $130 for the set). Several people have suggested we aren't charging enough! And many people have told me the price is just right.

If you buy and view any of the discs and don't think they are worth the price, please let me know.

dr. dave,

i mean no disrespect. and im not trying to say they arent worth every penny or more. im simply saying that a large number of people (in my opinion) will never know about these discs because they wont be willing to put out that much money to find out.

a lot of products in the world are sold for $99 because assumed value is much less than $100.

Thank you for the clarification. You make a good point.

FYI, If you buy the Disc I/II and Disc III/IV/V packages separately, you will be paying less than $99 for each package deal. :grin-square:

Dave

yeah, most of the people that would not pay will be trying to score a free copy....... I believe Dr. Dave's prices are very good considering what you get......
